Titans | No interest in Cutler? Mon, 6 Mar 2006 01:11:55 -0800 Paul Kuharsky, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said at the NFL Combine he felt QB Matt Leinart (USC) and QB Vince Young (Texas) were each worthy of being selected third overall in the upcoming NFL Draft. He also noted QB Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt) was not worthy of the pick. However, this type of talk at this stage in the game could be open for a wide-range of interpretation as nobody wants to show their true hand this early in the game. ~ ~ ~ smokescreen ? ?
I don't think this is a smoke screen. The Titans recognize that Cutler is the DeWayne Robertson of this years draft.
While I would be distrustful of anything a GM says now - who is he trying to fool? Is he afraid someone will trade up to #2? If so, they're taking Leinart, not Cutler... Cutler *will* be there at 3, who does he need to fool?
But Leinhart is already had experience with Norm Chow's offense, I don't see how they pass up Leinhart at #3 if hes available.
Yeah, I don't know why they'd smokescreen at #3 for Cutler, unless they don't want someone to trade up to get him. Who are they trying to fool, the Jets?
no one can tell whats really happening for him to actually come out and say that is weird and could be a smoke screen, everything is all rumors though
Well, let's think about the fooling argument for a sec. The Jets are enamored with Cutler. It's all over the news. They were practically wiping the sweat from his brow at the combine. Why wouldn't Tenn take a chance trying to convince the Jets they would grab him if available, then trade the spot with the Jets for a bucket of picks? Stranger things have happened.
Living in Nashvegas, and listening to Reece on local talk radio, the guy does not smokescreen much. I reflect on last year's draft talk, and Reece told the local audience that the Titans were not in the market for a QB, but that it would be soon that they would be. He said neither of the top QB's last year were what the Titans were looking for. Recently, he said that he was looking for an athletic QB and that Young was in the mold of his kind of player. He also said that while Young had release issues, they were coachable, but that the throwing motion was not, nor was it an issue. I really dont think the Titans are looking at anyone but Leinart or Young...but I do think they are going to shop the pick to see what it is worth
He could be letting the market know that they're not interested in Cutler so that those that covet him can jump up to their pick and trump the Jets, who (reportedly) are interested in Cutler.
Justin Miller may well end up being the worst draft pick in Bradway's tenure here, if his idiocy in the Buffalo game ends up costing us Vince Young.
Guys these are all smoke screens. Cutler this cutler that then a team robs you blind of picks that they never had any intention of drafting. Its Draft Poker Jets fans and we are at the proverbial table.
intentionally losing to raise your draft pick order (I assume that is what you are talking about) is on par with what your ex-coach all but admitted to doing in the Panther game. So, I guess it makes sense that some of the Herm fans would fall in step. So, if that is what you are saying, I would agree with those who think it is a poor post.
