normally i'd say no to this being that he's 30 years old and his contract is up after 8 games, but with a rookie QB we need to get him some help badly. enunwa and robbie are banged up, kearse hasn't done shit and sam has nobody to throw to. So in this case i'd be happy to bring in tate to help darnold out and we could even work out a couple year extension. WR will be a need in the offseason so even though it's not long term, it's hurting sam to have nobody to throw to and this team needs to do everything it can to help out sam as he is our future

Your logic is an epic fail. A smart GM doesn't give up draft capital for someone who will only be a short-term fix/addition (1-2 years tops) when his team isn't ready to compete. Making it a little better in order to win another game or two in an already lost season is dumb imo.

Just because he gave Tate a 3-year contract doesn't mean that Tate would play 3 more years or play at a high level for 3 more years. SMH In all likelihood, the only things that trading a 4th round pick for Tate would achieve would be burning a 4th round pick to prop up Bowles and Mac, when both need to be fired.

Or give Darnold a chance to actually throw someone the ball. ;)

He has Anderson, Herndon, Burnett whom he knows and has chemistry with from USC, and 2-3 RBs who are good receivers. Even if not, I don't want to trade for anyone whom could save Bowles or Mac's jobs and who could screw up draft position to get the LT or edge rusher we need in the 1st round.

We are past the point of scoffing at anyone over 30. Next year we are leading the league in cap space, and will be in a much better position to win. We need vets that deliver as much as we need 5 - 10 year players. We are going to be much closer to contending next year than you give credit for. And when I say contending I mean ready to make a push for a wildcard or the division.

I disagree, especially if Bowles and Mac are still here.

Tate to the eagles for a 3.

DT for a 4th as well. Pretty cheap although I'm not a huge Thomas fan.

Yea, I wasn’t up for taking Thomas but Tate seemed like a nice fit here. Good route runner, someone who could play in the offense and be where he is suppose to be.

seems like were going to sit pat today and ride with the anderson, enunwa, kearse, matthews group for the rest of the year. hopefully anderson and enunwa come back soon and matthews gets up to speed. we have miami, then buffalo then finally a bye week before a brutal stretch that includes the pats twice, the packers, and texans in 4 of the final 6 games. looks like 5-6 wins is most likely getting a sweep of buffalo and maybe the titans game leaving us with a pick around the 8-12 mark in the 1st rounds

NFL dot com finally has a draft pick tracker up. We're currently picking 7th, up from 9th last week. Booya.

I also would have liked Golden tate here. He plays hard and he's good, which is what you want in a player.

A speedster with an injured ankle and 2 rookies..... Tate would've been a good move

Tanking is over. The Jets need to do whatever they can to help Sam Darnold. That includes adding WR's or anyone else at the trade deadline. Can't worry about screwing up draft position either. They have their QB. Now they need to try to win.
