    ahhhh.... gotcha.

Just checked em out. Seems that they just make "Big Game Tamers" . These are small spinning reels that I'll be tossing artificials on. Probably just get some St. Croix Triumphs when I see em on sale. Haven't been fishing much and have plenty of gear, so as long as theyre ready before spring

My brother probably got it for me so he doesnt have to use my old shit when he comes to visit ;)

I know you like gucci fishing stuff, but if you need an stout workhorse spinner, Penn has the old spinfishers on sale. Too bad the Liveliners are sold out (I already have a shimano baitrunner) but the regular ones are a steal. Just ordered a 6500 for jigging Cobia and AJs

    http://www.pennfishing.com/penn-ree...nn-spinfisher-v-spinning/1290594.html#start=1

30# of drag should do the trick.... will prob spool with 50# PP

Well, nicest weather we've had all winter this week (following consistent cold (yes, FL cold ;)) so I made an effort to finally fuckoff and go fishing....

Wed: took the kayak (for the 1st time in months) out to hopefully find reds sunning themselves in the flats..... well, the weather was beautiful but I couldnt find a fish to save my life (1st time totally skunked at this spot) My buddy who's a charter captain said it's been shitty all week (quick drop in WT (surf temp is 55) and backwaters still not clear due to all the rain we've had

Yest: Got an invite to fish offshore with my buddy in JAX...ocean was flat as it gets that we took his Scout 185 30 miles offshore.... hit LOTS of spots, only to get about a dozen seabass and 1 vermillion snapper. One wreck further offshore was COVERED up in 12-15" bluefish  Also had to release a few BIG snappers (one was at least 20#) since theyre "endangered"

oh well, super nice day for february though, but I'm tire this morn

You should take that kayak to the vilano bridge and hoist up some sheepshead.

Sounds like your 2019 season is off to a great start Stinky. Hopefully it gets better from here. I don't think we're gonna see another cold spell like the last one again. At least I hope not. BTW, I have my reservation for a offshore Golden Tilefish trip for the last weekend in April. Cost was pretty high but its an 18hr trip on the Voyager out of NJ. Fishing between 400-1000ft. with 2-3lbs sinkers. I'll get to use my electrics and heavy gear for sure. Again, working items off my bucket list. Also fishing Block Island, RI this year. Next year? A return to FL. Hopefully gulf coast side and then the Atlantic side. Big Plans Stinky. Branching out from my usual Sea Bass, Porgy, Ling, Cod, Bluefish menu.

Learned a hard lesson on a party boat regarding pool fish. I had the pool fish but instead of keep it in a bucket of water, I kept it in my cooler. Naturally it lost water as it cooled and I lost out on a big pool.

They lose weight regardless.... blood and slime alone.

That fish bag was mostly ice water

One guy weighed in an 88#er yest

The best way is pack them in ice well, then pour in a cup of sea water... make a "slurry". Consider something like this:
    https://www.tackledirect.com/boone-monster-fish-bag-medium.html

I have one this size... I also have small one that's called a "bait bag".... that works great for my kayak/inshore fish

Thanks! I'll be looking into those for this year. Going to be doing a lot of new fishing in different waters so I want to be ready.

yeah, and theyre pretty convenient..... store flat or can be folded and put away.... yet will hold a 5' fish (for you. prob good for big stripers)

Stripers have arrived in huge numbers BUT, Mother Nature has decided to shorten the spring fishing season with unsettled weather every weekend. By the time water temps get past 50F, we will probably be near Memorial Day. I'm thinking about putting off my Tilefish trip another 2 weeks just to allow the water to get a few degrees warmer and this present weather pattern to change. Just had another batch of extreme weather pass thru last night so I highly doubt any boats left Belmar today.
