Yzerman has put together one heck of a team. Talk about the golden touch, everything he did turned out better than ok. I believe he will be missed after a couple of seasons.
Yeah, the Lightning and Penguins are on fire. Tampa will be tough to beat come playoff time. They are by far the best team in the East so far. The rest of the East is really tight. The Caps lead the Metro right now, but are also only 4 points away from being OUT of the playoffs. Should be an intense next few months!
Agreed, but i'm happy at least that he left when he did so we were able to keep JBB and not leave us out in the dry
Yeah it's shaping up to be a really fun second half of the season. I am worried that we might be peaking too early however
The Capitals lost their SIXTH game in a row tonight, including blowing a lead with 1.5 seconds left and then losing in OT 7-6 to the Sharks. Flat out embarrassing play by the Caps the last couple weeks. This is the same roster that won the Stanley Cup 7 months ago, but it definitely doesn't seem like it. I think they will fix stuff during the All-Star break, but it is still unacceptable to me. This shows you how important the little things are in hockey and how much you have to dedicate yourself to execute them. The Caps clearly are not giving 100% effort right now.
TDK, they have a shot a getting well tonight in Toronto. Two slumping teams, but somebody has to win, lol. 13
And that team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hopefully the Caps can get right during the All-Star break. I think they will, but you never know. It really was.
Nice move made by Shanny this week. Getting Jake Muzzin from L.A. without give up a roster player. Should play on the top pairing with Reilly. Needed some help on the back end. 13
What is it, 6 straight now for Philly? Showing some Hart. 7 straight for Washington but at least for them the Penguins just made a terrible trade
Caps end the streak with an impressive win over the Calgary Flames 4-3 without Ovechkin. Kuznetsov with the Game-Winning Goal. I thought he was going to have a career year this year, but has been pretty quiet. Maybe this game will help him and the entire team get back on track. Great night of hockey. -Tampa beat the Isles 1-0 in the shootout. I have to assume it was a great goalie match-up. -The Pens traded Brassard but still got the win today over the really bad Senators. -The Bears beat the Bills 7-3. Oops, I mean the Blackhawks beat the Sabres.
Leafs continue a disturbing trend of beating good teams and losing to bad teams. Dropped one in Motown last night. 13
Brian Boyle to the Predators for a 2nd Round pick. Good move for both teams. The Trade Deadline should be really fun this year. Such a wide open league.
The Capitals get a big road win over a pretty good San Jose Sharks team 5-1! Isles also with a really impressive 3-0 win in Columbus. The Caps were just there and lost 3-0. Without Holtby, the Bluejackets would have won 10-0, so really nice win by the Islanders tonight.
I think it was more complicated than that, but no doubt the Isles got a great Head Coach. No one ever denied that. His only problem was never getting past the 2nd Round of the playoffs. He did that last year, so no problems. Rumors were he was out for a long time in DC no matter what, but I think you are right about if Leonsis signs the check, Trotz stays and who knows where the Isles are right now? Not at the top of the Metro, that is for sure.
They are the best, but the best can be beaten. Especially in the NHL playoffs. We know that! I'll be interested to see what they do at the deadline, because I wouldn't change much.
Great Stadium Series game tonight! I highly dislike both teams, but the Pens and Flyers put on a good show. The Penguins were up 3-1 with 3 minutes left and ended up blowing the lead. It went to OT and the Flyers won 4-3. It rained most of the 3rd period too. Fun stuff. The Hurricanes currently own the 2nd Wild Card spot or 8th seed over the Pens. Should be an intense end to the season. As for the Capitals, they play the Rangers tomorrow after a weak 5-2 loss today to the Sabres. Buffalo looks like they have a bright future. The NHL Trade deadline is Monday. Already some big trades have been made.
