Actually, there are a whole bunch of fans who are against putting all the draft eggs in one basket. I sure hope Darnold turns into the Messiah many of us have been waiting fifty years for but he comes at the price of the second rounders that could have filled some gaps in the lineup this year and next.
Ask the Eagles how much they care about the holes they didn’t fill with all the picks they gave up for Wentz. Bottom line: if Darnold pans out, those picks will never be mentioned again.
It's funny, because that is such a small price to pay for a potential Franchise QB. A mega STEAL in fact. I wouldn't say all the draft eggs either. The Jets have picks in 1,3,4,5,6 and 7th rounds in 2018 and 2019.
Lol would you rather have plugged a few holes on a perpetual 5-10 team or put all those “eggs in one basket” with the chance of becoming a perpetual 11-5 team.
With such a good view into the future please supply me, by DM, the winner of next week's Kentucky Derby.
Pete Prisco needs to be tarred and feathered too then. It's inexcusable to have Allen anywhere near number 1.
QB is the only position in organized sports that truly matters. You HAVE to take a chance to get that guy. Plugging a few holes doesn’t give you a chance at anything other than being mediocre.
Would you care to rephrase that before it gets crazy? I'm kind of thinking about goalies and pitchers to begin with.
No I would not. There are 12 pitchers on a team, 5-6 starters and not one of them determines consistent winning. Goalies can stand on their heads and win a series but no goalie is leading his team to the playoffs every year. Brady Manning Rogers Brees Ben Wilson Manning the list goes on and on. NFL QB is by far the most important position in all of sports.
Well, it certainly looks like you rephrased to me: "QB is the only position in organized sports that truly matters." If you ever see a soccer team or hockey team win a game without a goalie, please let us know.
Any team with a top 10 qb generally has itself in a position every year thinking about playoffs and super bowl runs. Teams without a top 10 qb are generally thinking about how to achieve play offs and if the team is strong enough to contend. We have taken our bite of the cherry on a 20 year old qb. If he is what we hope he is and we keep him. The New York jets have their qb for 15 years. 15 years. 15 years of contending And people want to moan about a coupke of 2nd round picks. Thank you for that Captain Literal. You’re right, can’t play basketball without a point guard, can’t snap a football without a center, can’t have an outfield without a center fielder, imagine how many passed balls without a catcher? Done here, enjoy your sophistry.
