Clearly the Jets think at least 3 of the QBs can become franchise quality QBs. Otherwise, the trade wasn't happening and makes no sense.
Not in a super deep RB class and trading 3 2nds to move up. The Jags and Cowboys did NOT move up to take their RB. NO ONE MOVES UP AND SURRENDERS ASSETS LIKE THAT FOR A RB. Franchise QB>Franchise RB.
I disagree. Both Allen and Mayfield could wind up being better than Darnold and/or Rosen. If Mac doesn't get a QB, he will be fired. You don't trade up giving up three 2nd round picks and take a RB.
Maybe they think they can get Rosen or Darnold or that both Chubb and Barkley are worth a 3 if one of those two don't fall to 3. Without seeing our draft board it's speculation. It's clear they want a QB but that doesn't mean they are locked in if they guy they want doesn't fall into place.
They are all in on a QB. They didn't trade 3 2nds to move up for anything other than a QB; no team does. I have no idea as to why this is such a difficult concept for most to understand?
Well guess what? Who says Mayfield Allen or Rosen are "Franchise QB's"? Mayfield has questions about his maturity issues off the field. Allen has Hack 2.0 issues-concerns and Rosen has suffered multiple head concussions with trauma to his brain before taking a single NFL snap ala could retire after 1 or 2 head shots. Not ONE of those kids are a bigger GUARANTEE than Barkley. And you don't GAMBLE at #3. You gamble at 6. Not after trading multiple 2's. You take the GUARANTEE and Barkley is a GUARANTEE over Question marks in Allen, Mayfield and Rosen. If Darnold is off the board? You take the best player in all of football in Barkley. Super Deep RB class? Hah. Funny. How many other RB's are considered worthy of the #1 or #2 overall draft Pick? Seems like ONLY Barkley to me.
Clearly the Jets do, as they would not have moved up to 3 if they didn't think as such, knowing QBs might go 1 and 2, respectively. No you do not, as positional value 100% matters in the draft, especially when surrendering assets. I'm not going to convince you obviously, but you're in for a sad surprise when you see a QB drafted at 3.
Who's to say that Macc did not trade up to #3 in order to guarantee us either of Darnold or the best player in college in Barkley at #3? If Darnold goes #1 and say Rosen #2. You're saying you take little man Mayfield or project Allen over BARKLEY?!?! You're nuts if so. By moving up to #3 Macc has guaranteed us either Darnold or more like the best player coming out in Barkley. And trust me, our next QB regardless of Bridgewater or a 1st round QB next year or a potential FA franchise QB will LOVE having Barkley as his running mate.
Like I said, I am not going to convince you and clearly you're a huge Barkley fan. Just set yourself up for the expectation of taking a QB at 3.
This Barkley talk is so silly. The writing has been on the wall since the trade has been made. Unless Barkley switched his position to QB that I don’t know about he won’t be drafted by the Jets.
Or Hackenberg a QB with great size along with a cannon for an arm but yet can not read NFL defenses and/or struggles with consistency in regards to accuracy (or appears as so). At #3 overall? Hell no. Same with Rosen along with his multiple head concussions ala trauma to his brain. At #3 overall? Hell no. Kids career could be over before it started after one or two NFL head shots he'll be hanging up his cleats and calling it quits within the first 2-3 years (let alone 10-15) kids brain could already be mushy. Darnold or Barkley. As simple as that.
No it doesn't, but it might on some NFL teams. The bottom line is that Mac HAS to get a FQB prospect in this draft. That was the plan that Woody signed off on, and that's why he traded up to #3. He knows that if the Jets don't come out of this offseason without a solid FQB prospect, he won't be around next year as the GM. He can't count on Teddy's being healthy or being the same player that he was pre-injury. Just as importantly, you don't give up three 2nd round picks to trade up for a RB, especially, when there are so many other great RB prospects in this draft, and the Jets could have easily gotten one in the 2nd round. That is even more true when the Jets don't have a glaring need at RB. The only way it would have made any sense at all for Mac to burn three 2nd round picks to trade up for Barkley would be if the Jets were set at every position, were a playoff team, and had one glaring hole/need at RB, and they thought that adding Barkley would put them over the top and into the SB.
Exactly! Anyone that thinks the Jets are taking Barkely is clearly obsessed, and either doesn't understand the draft and football or is delusional.
