https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...-the-last-jedi-new-trailer-rian-johnson-watch Looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing.
Yeah I mean the Force Awakens was what it was. A quick money maker for them while they crafted Rogue One and the Last Jedi. I still enjoyed it for nostalgic purposes. I was like a little kid again watching it. It followed the same story arch though and it was frustrating to see how they have to friggain intertwine everything where everyone is related to everyone in some way. I'm hoping the Last Jedi tries to distance itself some and try to take this new saga in a unique direction. There's so much you can do with Star Wars that fans shouldn't be subjected to continuing to see the same story over and over again.
I don't understand what Luke means when he says he's only seen Rey's kind of strength once before. The character strongest in the Force was Anakin, but Luke would never have seen his full power because Anakin was broken before Luke was born. Unless Luke's referring to Kylo Ren, but Kylo didn't seem that powerful in Force Awakens. Also Supreme Leader Snoke looks like Mike Pence.
"Kind of strength" wouldn't mean amount of strength, as in the strongest Jedi, but type of stength that someone used. In that regard it could be Darth Vader or Palpatine. Ultimately this movie, and series, hangs on who Snoke is since his motivation is the driving force to the conflict.
Trailer was good, had alot of misdirect though. Snoke is a interesting guy, wonder who he really is. Would be nice and different if Rey became a grey jedi or dark jedi. Kylo flips.
My money is on Snoke's dialogue at the opening is being directed at Rey and not Kylo Ren, which speaks to the misdirection. I also doubt that Rey asking for guidance at the end of the trailer is directed to Kylo Ren as the trailer is edited to infer.
You could be right, I'm just speculating. I thought Snoke was Darth Plagueis, but the trailer makes him look human and Plagueis was a Muun. Snoke could be a new character, but that would be disappointing in a way.
A coworker offered an interesting theory of Kylo Ren actually being a Jedi and looking for Luke to ultimately save the Jedi's in the end. They've done this movie right in it not being predictable. So don't watch or pay any mind to it. These movies are making ridiculous money and tons of people are still interested.
I have stopped paying attention and watching, your smart JV, you know when movies become a money grab. Friday the 13 part 8, Halloween 5, rocky 7...etc Star Trek movies have blown these Star War movies out of the water. Better stories and character development and I'm sure they will get to the point where no more can be done and just put them out as money grabs as well. Just because they make a lot of money doesn't mean they are any good anymore.
You didn't like Rogue One? I thought it was very well done. The Force Awakens was a money grab. Rogue One wasn't. And this one doesn't appear to be either.
Your going to think I'm crazy but Return of Jedi was last one I truly enjoyed. I thought that trilogy was amazing. I understand the concept of what they are trying to do, but there is nothing new to the story, just trying to tie it all together. The first three were groundbreaking, like Alien and Aliens, or the Terminator, first Halloween, or Friday the 13th. I won't tell anyone not to go see it, but the movies and storyline don't do it for me anymore hence why I stated that they need to stop. General Grevious was my favorite character though.
I dislike TFA but I don't think it was a money grab. I think they truly believed they were paying homage to the original while simultaneously giving new audiences their own starting point they could jump into with the story following the new characters. You didn't need to know who Luke and Han were anyomore than you needed to know Obi Wan's backstory in the original. It just wasn't good. I've complained about it many times -- the plot is dependent on Poe's jacket being so unique that his robot knows it is his, thus forcing the two main characters together. That's just stupid, even with the best intentions.
