Our contingency plan on the practice squad was signed by the Broncos this week. He was making $400k when the NFL average for a PS player is $200k, so it wasn't like they weren't trying to retain him.
Not a good day for Sam but some of the responsibility for that goes to Long. You can not have your QB wondering where the snap is going before every snap while he's trying to read defenses and make calls. Every erant snap throws off the timing of the offense and screws the play before it gets started. This has to be a psychological thing - time to call a hypnotist.
I'm not used to seeing bad center play on the Jets. Years of watching Mawae and Mangold. This guy is terrible.
If it's true that he's got an injured finger that explains a lot, but what it doesn't explain is why there isn't anyone who can take his place if he's this incapable?
With all the cap we have, we could probably just bite bullet here. Mac hasn’t had a lot of bad signings but this was one of them.
Not true it is a four year contract but actually the contract was worked so Long could be released with no dead cap money after this season if the Jets want.....Mac basically took a one year flyer - if Long works he works if not he kicked the center problem a year down the road by releasing Johnson and signing Long ( who is a natural guard by the way ). I say the Jets draft a good young center in the third round this year .....
Am I missing something here? Is it not pretty well known that he has an injured finger? No one finds it odd that this becomes an issue after he enters weekly the injury report? It’s bad, yea, but I think it’s a little uneducated to go off on how terrible he is. He’s been pretty damn good blocking. I’d assume that once his finger heals he’ll be back to being fine like he was weeks 1-5.
