https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/8/16991254/chrome-not-secure-marked-http-encryption-ssl Since just buying a new pc I have noticed a lot of sites have a not secure rating in the address bar, when you click on info it says do not use your credit card etc over them. Is there anything to be doing from the site's end to make it secure for us ?
Google just changed its approach. Https sites used to be marked with a padlock. In the latest versions they now mark http sites as not secure. The s means that the site uses encryption to transfer data and it is harder to hack, in basic terms. I wouldn't worry too much unless you are sending personal or financial data to an unsecured site.
@Petrozza You probably already know this, but if not, you can get free SSL certs now. https://letsencrypt.org/ edit: nevermind - I see you can navigate to an https version of the site. The http version should probably redirect to the https version so no one can use that. so @K'OB just navigate to the https version.
