Wow, I did not see that coming, I bet he will be gone after one season.

This is why the NFL has plateaued, the constant retreads at the coaching positions produces the same level of productivity.

There are only a handful of guys that become gems on the sidelines or on the field for that matter.

Maybe we can send their forum the link for our Brainlessly Bashing Schottenheimer thread.

...or running a reverse EVERY SINGLE GAME...

...or only passing against teams that can't stop the run...

...And only running against teams that can't stop a pass...

...and if something works, never running that play again...

    ...

This sort of thing is exactly why the Rooney Rule exists, and also why it is a failure. Most teams would much rather make the safe choice and recycle losers, avoiding attacks from the media and fans, than make a bolder choice because it's potentially the right thing to do but might get them ridiculed if it doesn't work out.

How does Brian Schottenheimer still get gigs at this point? Pretty much every team he's ever ran the offense for has been a bottom of the league offense that barely did anything. The days of Seattle contending are over.

Apparently a QB he worked with for 7 years thinks he's just peachy as a coordinator:

Which leads me to take your question and come up with another one: how the hell has Kellen Clemens lasted 11 years in the NFL? Clemens' support for hiring a retread who has had little actual success couldn't have anything to do with the fact that it describes his NFL career perfectly, could it? It really is amazing how entrenched at every level the old boy system is in the NFL.
