Screw it, the Jets need to make the trade for the 3rd overall pick, no risk, no reward

Get the proven commodity. Cousins. Draft the O-Line. Sign the receivers

The irony in this is that if the Jets do make a trade with Indianapolis it could be much less expensive to make a deal for Andrew Luck than it would be to trade up for one of these NON can't miss rookie QB prospects.

    GO GET LUCK!!!!!!

Let's see what happens after the dust of FA is over ...so much will change as far as drafting a FQB

I say stay absolutely positive and be careful what you wish for...gut says the Colts at 3 will do business with us since there is too much invested in Luck and that team is starting over and wants to draft a ton of players..give Indy 5 picks 2 or 3 first rounders and the rest 2 second rounders from this year and next...BUT FOr gods SAKES DO IT

Not being Pollyanna here but I can see Denver out of the picture because Cousins is perfect fit for them

However there are many other QB needy teams e.g. Buffalo behind us so just STAYING AT 6 IS PLANNING TO FAIL IN THE DRAFT ..

At 3 you can safely SECURE a QB of your choice out of big 3 Rosen Darnold Mayfield...sorry Allen not in the picture

There is no qb in this draft worth the any combination of 5 first and second round picks let alone the 3rd best which is what you would be getting at pick 3.

It's hard to argue with this? Although I'd add it really depends on who Mac thinks is the savior QB for the Jets? If he thinks Rudolph is the ultimate QB prospect, then the Jets would still be fine trading down. If he thinks Rosen is the guy then more than likely your post applies.

If they signed Cousins, I would only take Chubb if Barkley weren't available.

Chubb, Barkley, and Nelson are all studs. After the combine Davenport, Key, or other pass rushers could be very attractive as well. We are thin on talent at many positions so there are lots of guys who could help us.

Later in round one we can get one of the top two or three centers to finally replace Nick Mangold. There are many other good to great players that might also be there at the bottom of round one / top of round two like there are every year.

And BTW: If after the FA period and the #6 pick passes the Jets still don't have a FQB (or potential one), then start the countdown clock on Macc and Bowles being gone.

Not trading up to 3 for Mayfield.

What a waste of picks that would be.

If they think he's the FQB they've been looking for, and if he turns out to be that, the picks given up will be well worth it.

Agree for the most part except Baker. If Rosen and Darnold are taken 1-2 , can't see them going to 3 unless it's for Barkley ( pending on if they get a FA QB).

Trading up to #3 and taking a QB probably means you are passing on Barkely, Nelson, and Chubb as well as the fourth QB taken. Any GM who does that should be not just fired but shot.

If the Colts move on from Luck, it's buyer beware. They know more about him than other teams. He's barely played the last 2 seasons.

And yet, many Jets fans want to play it safe and get a retread QB instead of a our own franchise guy. Have to play it safe, don't want to give up draft capital, even though stats show most of the picks don't pan out. They must be family members of Mac and Bowles. Figure out your QB and move heaven and earth to trade up and get him. The Eagles and Rams are pretty happy right now and their futures look a lot brighter than ours until we draft a young, promising QB.

Totally disagree. If we don't do that, they should be fired. QB is the most important position on the field. We don't need the best RB, Pass Rusher, O-lineman in the draft. We have 100 million to spend. It all means absolutely zero without a franchise QB. You have to take the risk, plain and simple. Playing it safe is for teams that are happy with mediocre records.

Well if they think there's a "can't miss" QB at 3, then yes, they have to take him, but as much as I agree that they need a FQB, Barkley is a more surefire pick than almost anyone else, including Rosen who is the best QB prospect. But because the Jets do need that FQB, if Rosen, Mayfield, or Darnold as of now were there along with Barkley I would have to go QB, otherwise, I'd probably take Barkley and look to get the QB with my 2nd pick, trying to even trade up into the lower 1st round to get the best QB available at that point.

Now if one of the other QBs rises up the assessment ladder, he might become an option over Barkley in that scenario, but as of now, this is how I'd see it.

I think the Jets trading up is predicated on if Denver lands Kirk once FA opens.

Ya..I am starting to seriously wonder if relatives of FO/CS are on here Or Woody pays people like he prob pays Manesh Mehta toecho the Company Line

The safety issue is really dumb...since your present product on the field is just recirculating hot garbage with all our "picks" to give up

They actually gave up less than that from a realistic point of view. They got back a fifth round draft pick that is basically equivalent to the fourth round pick they gave up, so the net loss was three picks, a 1 in 2017, a 2 in 2018, and a 3 in 2016. That was worth it, but the real bonus is that they were able to then turn around and trade Bradford a 1 in 2017 and conditional 4 in 2018. They were thus able to replace Bradford with someone younger, cheaper, healthier, and better, for what amounts to a 2 and a bit more. There's no question that that ended up being more than worth it.
