I find this hard to believe. Not that I think Rex is a good HC but without his top defenses and "ground and pound" sanchez probably never sniffs a playoff win.
mark really wasnt ever very good. the jets didnt help him but lets not kid ourselves into thinking he was ever going to be a top notch qb in the league.
Nope, Sanchez has the best job in the NFL backup QB. He will make millions of dollars get play sparingly and have a long career. He is valuable not really good enough to be a starter but has a ton of experience including playoffs that will keep your team in the hunt if you number 1 goes down.
i wonder what juncs take is on this. im sure he thinks that sancho will win the job outright and lead them to the superbowl.
Mark Sanchez's football development came under the West Coast Offense both at Mission Viejo high school under coach Bob Johnson and Steve Sarkisian at USC. This is the offense that made him look competent enough to be highly recruited from high school then drafted 5th overall to the NFL. The only time prior to this current opportunity he's had a chance run a WCO in the NFL was that short period in the 2013 camp under Mornhingweg when he was "competing" against Geno. Prior to the ill-advised 4th quarter substitution, he was completing 67% of his passes in that small pre-season sample size. Comfort level and complete understanding of scheme, is a tremendous asset for a QB. Look no further than Fitz and his knowledge of Gailey's system. If Sanchez will ever realize the best version of himself in the NFL, it should be in Kubiak's WCO. John Elway and Gary Kubiak are no dummies; they are taking a calculated risk by trading for Sanchez like Mac/Bowles/Gailey did for Fitz last year. Should be interesting.
I'll believe it when I see it legler. Every offseason we get this talk about Sanchez and the system. besides Kubiak typically runs A LOT of screen passes. We all know how Sanchez is terrible in the screen passing game. also it will be hard to come up with conclusions on his success in denver from preseason games only
I agree. If anybody ruined Sanchez, it was Tanny. Sanchez had his most efficient year as far as turnovers go in 2010. Instead of preserving the continuity, they went from Edwards / Holmes / Cotchery to Holmes / Burress / Mason. Plus the oline deteriorated each passing year after 2009. It's hard to blame Rex for that unless Rex was the one who forced them to draft DE/DT almost every year instead of oline and WR.
It also helps Sanchez that Kubiak loves to run the ball and uses the play action pass more than most OC in the NFL. It could be a repeat of his 2 years with the Jets when he helped the team make the championship games.
yeah its not a terrible life to live. i mean it has to eat at a guy a little to not be the guy or really be a contributor, but i am sure once you are over that its got to be pretty nice.
If I had to place the blame, I have to blame it on Schottenheimer and the QB coach as well. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...-jets-beat-carolina-panthers-article-1.419685 Remember the color-wristband BS? That was the dumbest idea ever.
