That might be longshot. When was this test taken? How much time elapsed between the test and date when he was notified that he had failed? If he presents some bottle of supplements and says that's what he took immediately before the test, how credible will that be? What kind of corroboration could he present? Besides, as I understand the NFL policy, a player is responsible for whatever he puts into his body. If he took a contaminated supplement, it's on him. Thus, even if he could prove a contaminated supplement, it wouldn't be a defense in the eyes of the League. Bottom line: he's said his piece, and he's probably better off taking the suspension and moving on.
But what exactly is a 'contaminated' supplement? Someone opened a capsule and put coke in it without his knowledge? He should still say what it was if he's that innocent and also name the company/companies he was/is using. Anyway, good argument, Counselor. I'm surprised you weren't hired by Team O.J. ; )
I like your point, too. It's easy to claim contamination, but it's a lot tougher to explain how that contamination occurred.
I never understood the need for high performing athletes to take supplements anyway. We all know steroids are the drugs to take to get stronger and those are banned so why take any supplement? If you have a condition and need to take FDA approved medications, that's different. Otherwise, if you eat a balanced diet and workout as you should, you shouldn't need any supplements.
Many athletes, both pro and just your every day Joe who has an intense workout regimen, need more than can be supplied via "a balanced diet". Even those without a big workout regimen may need supplements to treat conditions they don't want to take "FDA approved medications" for.
If you're subject to PED testing you should hire somebody to keep the last pill in every bottle, documented with date of last use and dose, etc. The player could write it off as a business expense and at least have a credible claim if they got busted.
It's a bunch of bullshit. they don't even test for HGH, most of the league is pumping that shit and its certainly more effective than some of the bullshit they do test for. The NFL just picks out a few random 'unlucky' guys a year to make an example of so they can appear legitimate. Looks like it was just Sanchez' turn. It probably was a contaminated sample. The league's testing policy is a joke
Crosses arms, taps foot impatiently, tick-tock, tick-tock. STILL WONDERING WHAT SANCHEZ TESTED POSITIVE FOR. Cold-Eez? Ricola? Maybe it was jizz? EDIT & P.S.: Sorry, about that, folks. Fukk google, fukk youtube (same thing), and fukk spying conglomo. Seriously, fukk 'em all. REVOLT!
