Looks like LA won't franchise him. If they don't lock him up long term, I think he'd be a solid choice to bring in as a #1. Especially if we sign Kirk, or even if we don't and draft a guy. That is all.
Would highly welcome Watkins at the right price. You know someone is going to get desperate and overpay though. Hopefully it's not us.
He wasn’t stellar at Bills and an offensive guy like McVay doesn’t want to extend him. I honestly think we should spend our money elsewhere.
If he did a prove it deal like Alshon Jeffery (1 year $10M), he would certainly be an upgrade. Allen Robinson would be the better one to go after, assuming he makes it to free agency. However, Watkins will turn 25 in June and has potential to be a good WR. He's only had one 1,000 yard season, is coming off back to back sub 600 yard seasons.
I feel like because of his size he's always been used as a deep threat guy. I can't figure out why no one sends him on a slant route, back shoulder fade, etc. He's so strong and physical that he can make those plays and probably at a high level if given the consistent shots.
The guy has all the talent in the world but none of the production and I have no idea why. I wouldn’t give him a huge contract but some team likely will. He’s pretty much the only option if adding a potential top WR is the goal.
made of glass,,,,injury history blows,,,,,I would rather sign a guy like Allen Robinson much cheaper and also made of glass,,,,,but we have a lot of WR s on this roster problem is we have no one to throw the ball to them, among other things
I wish we knew more about Enunwa's health and could trust Robbie Anderson more, because if those conditions were met, or at least Enunwa being healthy, I'd feel comfortable going into next year with Enunwa-Anderson-Kearse-Hansen-Stewart as the top 5. Watkins is tempting especially because he's young, but injury history is concerning. If they're going to take a flier on someone, I'd be interested in Donte Moncrief at the right price. I also am on board with taking a WR somewhere in the draft on day 2 or 3
he might be big but he is NOT physical. That's why they don't send him across the middle. He will be a deep threat type his whole career and never a proverbial "no.1" because he is way too soft.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/rams/la-sp-falcons-rams-watkins-20180102-story.html But I do agree that he will never be a number 1.
Something to think about. We have huge question marks at receiver. Enunwa health and whether he can return to what he used to be, Anderson the head case. Might be in jail by the time training camp starts. Kearse is a 2nd tier complement receiver and the rest are 2nd year guys.
From what I heard over the course of the season, enunwa should be fine. There was never any concern over anything lingering. There’s no doubt in my mind he would have beasted last year. I expect a big year from him if we have adequate qb play
