Well, I guess we'll find out if Bad Sam can play in the rain. If he's headed in this direction, he damn well better be able to..I wonder if all the attention that Rosen/Allen and Mayfield have been getting changed his mind. I think originally he hadn't planned on it. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/03/19/sam-darnold-will-throw-at-pro-day-even-if-it-rains/
quick point here.....we as Jet fans are always saying things like I hope this guy can play in cold weather, I hope he can play in snow blah blah. Its total nonsense. 95% of Jet home games are played in perfectly good conditions. It doesnt even get cold until January and lord knows we dont play home playoff games. You can count on one hand the amoutn of miserable weather Jet homes games weve played over teh past 10 years or whatever.....its silliness really
I thought he always planned on throwing at his pro day and even said so when he decided not to throw at the combine.
In related news Josh Allen, who impressed with his throws at the combine, will be throwing again at Wyoming's Pro Day Friday at their indoor facility.
The issue isn't so much the cold at the meadowlands as it is the swirling winds. We've seen plenty of high wind games where we couldn't run the ball & tried to pass but couldn't b.c the QB lacked the arm strength downfield. Beyond that we play in the AFC & the AFC east. Buffalo(Once a year), Cheatsboro(Once a year) Baltimore,Cleveland,Pittsburgh,Cincinnati, Denver, KC all experience frigid temperatures & quite often swirling winds. We may not play those teams on the road every year but ya gotta have a QB who can sling it through the gusts w. some velocity.
My first ever JETS game was against the Colts in November...... Cold, POURING rain, everything..... except good football. Pretty sure this day spawned the Guns-N-Roses song
I liked Darnold a lot today but in the games I watched him he underwhelmed me. Oh well. What do I know. I am glad my job isn't on the line for selecting the right QB for the Jets. Lol.
Normal people dont realize how good Sam Darnold really is , he is on a league of his own at least in my opinion there is no QB i would take over Sam Darnold in the last 3 years.
