Just wanted your thoughts. Would you rather trade for Abe for Rivers and get D'Brickishaw in the draft OR would you rather just draft Cutler at #4. Just wanted some thoughts

    Let's make this clear.

The Chargers are not trading Rivers when Brees is not 100% back from his shoulder injury.

Secondly, where are they going to play Abraham? They have Merriman for that spot..

    This thread sounds familiar....

    I get Rivers & draft D'Brick w/o hesitating.

Rivers simply because the Jets would be better faster.
    • The Jets new OC has helped develop Rivers for the past two years, and Rivers feels comfortable and thinks very highly of Schotty.
    • Although he hasn't had much game experience, he has had two years in the NFL to study (like Chad did behind Vinny)
    • Rivers won a lot more than Cutler in college. For example, Rivers started 5 Bowl games and was named the MVP of each one!
    • Signing Rivers would allow the Jets to use their #4 pick on D'Brick or another elite player.

Since the Chargers are no longer offering Rivers, looks like Cutler is the man. This also means that the Jets will need to find a stop-gap until Cutler is ready. Maybe Penny stays? Maybe Bollinger? Who knows....

Rivers has a side arm motion that I expect a lot of this site would have problems with.

And yet, even though I don't really want the Jets to trade for Rivers, I'd still prefer him to Jay "6-19" Cutler.

Rivers because we get to keep out 4th overall pick.

I think the main porblem is the offesnive line. I think if the offesnvie line can portect the quarterback, then Chad Pennington can get it done if he is healthy. If I had to choose Rivers or Cutler, I think I would chose Rivers because the offesnvie coordinater has worked with him, but I think Cutler can be good as well.
