Paul Blair passes at the age of 69.

Geez, I remember seeing him when I was 10 years old in that 1969 World Series and that dude could fly. What a fielder. Him and Mays, two of the best ever.

As huge a Met fan as I was, there were a lot of players on those Oriole teams I liked and as I got older respected. Blair, Brooks and Frank Robinson, Don Buford, Boog Powell, Elrod Hendricks, all those pitchers? Wow what a staff.

    Sucks. RIP.

He was the guy Billy Martin sent in for Reggie in 77 when they nearly had that brawl in the dugout in Fenway.

REGGIE (turning around startled) : What the hell are you doing out here?
BLAIR: Reggie, all I know is Billy told me to come out and get you...
REGGIE: (pointing to himself) Me? Me? He did what??

Reggie jogs into dugout hearing hoots from Red Sox fans and the fun begins.....
