I'm not kidding, I think there is a solid chance Rex gets the job after the season. He has gone out of his way since leaving to talk pleasantly about the Johnson's and the Jets orgsnization, which to me suggests he wanted to keep the possibility of a return open and the Johnsons are "fanboys" enough to go back to him

    i doubt it.
besides, it is not as important who is the chef as who is shopping for the groceries.

you could not get a top notch coach to come here unless you fire the gm.

It all starts with the Org Chart. Structurally this team is just wrong and that has to change.

Seems a little over the top. It was only four years ago when his Jet team got embarrassed in Detroit by Buffalo. The score was similar, and the Bills couldn’t paractice all week.

that's it! instead of a "great/fantastic week of practice", skip it altogether.
we can't do any worse the next time we play a pickup squad or even buffalo.

I’m sure he is speaking from experience. Get fired twice and you can feel when someone else is about to get it

Any place to find out how many teams have a football operations guy leading the team as opposed to a GM or a Head Coach/GM? I'm curious but not enough to dig through 32 teams' websites.

Rex would jump all over another chance to coach the Jets. Will he be a better coach this time around? Nobody is exactly knocking on his door after his stints with the Jets and Bills. I also recall his locker being in complete disarray during his last days with the Jets. Aside from losing, the one thing that both Ryan's and Bowles' teams have in common was their alarming lack of discipline.

I hope he's right about MacCagnan being a goner too.

    Play like a Jet.

Five minutes after he was fired by the Jets, hired by the Bills it became play like a Bill.

    Total phoney.

Plus he possibly cost us a Super Bowl in 2015.

He wouldn't oust Maccagnan if he wanted the job back. Even if he thinks Macc is gone, he wouldn't have said that to hurt his chances if Macc does indeed stay.

On top of this, even if Rex wants to come back...we shouldn't let it happen.

Rex could come back as the DC for Harbaugh.

Considering the relationship Rex had with ownership, no new coach in his right mind would bring Rex in as DC.

Someone established with a prior relationship like John Harbaugh could pull it off

That would be a helluva staff for us but it’s obviously a huge long shot

If I were John Harbaugh I'd never bring in Rex. If the team got off to a slow start, Rex would start running his mouth and trying to undermine me. And if I told him to shut up or I'd fire him, ownership would push me not to do that.
