Next thing they will announce is Kotite for OC, Geno Smith as QBs coach, Kyle Wilson as DBs coach, Wayne Hunter as OL coach, DL coach Dewayne Robertson, and Vernon Gholston as LB coach.

I wonder if Roger Vick and Blair Thomas have any gas left in the tank?

No thanks that wouldn't work out.

Gregg Williams would be a much better hire I think.

The one thing Rex was good at was defense. I think Vance Joseph is going to be the guy, but I'd take Rex at DC.

Do you think the problem with hiring McCarthy is that it would severly undermine McCagnan? I'm being serious now.. With both guys reporting directly to Chris, who do you think gets more weight? The guy with the winning record and SB ring, or the guy that drafted Hackenberg? I think Macc just dodged a bullet. Good for Macc, bad for the Jets.

    this

Williams has a good track record of churning out aggressive D's that play hard

Not the same scenario. Rex would be coming back to a lesser role with the same organization. I would love him as DC back with the Jets, but with his ego it will never happen.

3-4 defense hasn't worked for years because we haven't had an edge rusher in years. Our only draft pick to have that elite edge rusher was Gholston who was one of the biggest busts in draft history. We finally have a shot at an elite pass rusher with our top 3 pick, whether it is Bosa or Allen.

You are right that the jets have lacked an edge rusher for YEARS. Not sure about your use of "finally" having a chance at an edge rusher--GM Mike McIdiot has wasted top draft picks on Devin Smith, Hackenberg, Darron Lee, Marcus Moye, Stewart, Hansen, Maulden etc. and wasted BIG free agent money on Trumaine, Wilk, Fitz, Revis, etc. McCagnan has had four years to address offensive line and edge rusher and hasn't. Maybe talents like Bosa and Allen weren't there for him, but you can't say there were not others he could have secured.

LOL! Thx for the humor. I loved the reference to DB Kyle Wilson, probably the only NFL player ever called for defensive holding on a 3rd and 29 play when the Ravens WR was about 5 yards from the line of scrimmage. AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN! Tends to demoralize the rest of the defense
