But cheering against your team doesn't? Some of you people expect Rex should tank games? Why would he do that? When he getting fired at the end of the season. The same goes for Geno. Why would he want to tank games so the Jets can draft his replacement? Plus why should some of these players on Jets who will be gone next season tank games? They have there own careers to worry about. The only person who tanked was Idzik when he put this roaster together.
A team should never tank. This isn't NBA. Some of the fans here are just morons who out think themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's not nice. Just because your team has won four Superbowls doesn't give you the right to come on here and make fun of us true Jets fans. Now go back to your Giants board and leave us alone.
So, players and coaches winning meaningless games out of self interest is good, but fans wanting a higher draft pick for the future is bad... check
Come on... I want a pick just as much as you do, but if you think coaches and players should give a shit whatsoever about a draft pick, you're just not in touch with reality. I personally wouldnt want any player playing for my team or any coach coaching my team that would allow themselves to NOT go out and try to win every game
It's a conundrum. I have to admit that as much as I like seeing the Jets win, I see the advantage of them losing, and was kind of hoping for it yesterday. The problem is that the NFL draft structure favors losing over everything for parity. It's clear in the way they determine tiebreakers. "You lost the same number of games as me, but your strength of schedule was worse so that makes you worse and we'll give you a better pick." The frustrating thing about this is that, as fans, we see absolutely no benefit to winning after a certain point. We're well beyond any feel-good finishes. However, the players and coaches are playing and coaching for their careers and futures. In some cases, it's an audition for them. Because of the setup, fans and teams are going to be on completely different wavelengths here. I don't fault people for rooting against the Jets, because inevitably, it does lead to a better draft pick (which doesn't always equate to a better player as we know). Whichever side of the fence you fall on, you want what's best for the Jets, but people just see it differently. If it were up to me, I'd say it should be a random draft order every year. Lucky or unlucky, as long as it's random, it is what it is. Then you can just watch the NFL season for what it is and not have to worry about positioning yourself.
