It's media noise and teams trying to dissuade other teams from picking him.

most likely. pump up people you don't want, talk down the people you want. maximize the chances of your guy falling to you

I think realistically zero chance. Before the rookie wage scale I could see it happening, but not in todays game.

I don’t see any of these guys sliding. QBs will go 1, 2. 3. 5 IMO.

Woudln’t be shocked to see the 3/4 QBs go to the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins.

I'm surprised there are people here who are enamored with Allen. The Jets have no track record of developing QBs. Everyone just falls in love with what they think he can be. I'm not saying he will be a bust but you don't need to have a cannon to be a winning QB in the NFL. I'd take the more polished QBs who have adequate arm strength for the pros.

I can actually see that, good comparison. Another concern for me is the mentality and attitude it takes to be a NYJ QB, allen is a super nice kid and extremely smart as evidenced by his wonderlic score but im just not convinced he can handle the bright lights.

While I'm absuloutely convinced that Mayfield and Rosen both can

If Allen plays to Flacco's level then he is a successful draft pick, as far as his pros and cons go.

you cna't get blood from a stone. you can't blame the jets for every QB that doens't work out. every team has QBs that fail horribly for them

I would say there’s a nonzero chance of Mayfield being gone. The Jets making it so well-known that they’re taking him is a good way to entice a team to trade over them for him.

that also assumes a team likes him enough to trade up as well to 2.

LMAO at the thought of a team trading ahead of the Jets to draft Mayfield. Maybe it will be the Chargers...LOL.

    Great post.

Essentially if Allen reaches his potential it’s a grand slam.

For me I think taking a calculated risk and go for a grand slam instead of a 2 score single is how we can get back on top.

I'm a guy that evolved into placing Allen at the top of my QB rankings. Once the tape dispelled the overblown accuracy issues and reconciled lack of production for me, I could no longer justify not having him at the top of my board. Without any sort of character, work ethic, football IQ, leadership type issues to offset that immense talent, my hands were tied. Note my "pound the table" QB candidates always get the mantle of my avatar. So as everyone can see despite having him at the head of the class, I'm not bullish on Allen. Still I'm not going to settle for inferior talent for fear of SOJ or Hacklash.
