Kershaw, Dickey, Gonzalez, Kimbrel, Cueto I say Kershaw. #1 in ERA, Whip, and WAR  #2 in strike outs
No way I'm giving it to a reliever (when you have legitimate starter candidates), I don't care what his peripherals say. Good relievers are generally going to have better peripherals than good starters because they pitch less innings anyway. He was 42-45 for saves, that's very good but not exactly record-setting. Dickey and Kershaw have the numbers, I can't exactly quibble if they decide to give it to Kershaw but I'd like to see it go to Dickey.
Kershaw has a higher WAR, better ERA and WHIP. How can someone who thinks Trout should get the MVP over Cabrera believe Dickey should get the CY Young.
How can someone who dismissed WAR in the other thread now try to use it to boost his argument? You can't have it both ways.
I don't care about WAR. Notice the thumb's up I posted in my OP. Kershaw gets the nod for ERA and WHIP. And the fact Kershaw and Dickey will be nearly the same with strikeouts. I brought up WAR because it's your favorite stat. So what's your reasoning?
WAR is not my favorite stat. I just mentioned it in the other thread. You claim to not care about WAR but you've already mentioned it twice as a reason for why Kershaw should win the Cy Young. The fact is, their WARs are almost identical. I think Dickey will win the Cy Young. See ESPN's predictor. That's all I'm saying. Trout deserves to win the AL MVP, but I don't know if he will. I think Dickey will win the NL Cy Young. There's a huge difference between the two awards. In one, Trout has a much higher WAR (and deservedly so). Here, the WARs are pretty close. 5.8 and 5.5 WHIP is 1.03 and 1.05.
Dickey should win it, but there's no way they would every allow it. Gio Gonz will win it, or Matt Cain.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/features/cyyoung If Dickey doesn't win, it'll be Gio Gonzalez. I'm sure they'll be the top two.
Gotta be Dickey. 20 wins plus excellent peripherals on a TERRIBLE baseball team as a knuckleballer. #1 in Ks #2 in ERA (not including Chapman) #2 in Wins And perhaps most importantly- most innings pitched of all the candidates
As far as relievers, Kimbrel was better than Chapman anyway. My top 5 would be Dickey, Gio, Kershaw, Kimbrel, Cueto I guess. You know what's amazing? The Philly pitchers. Lee and Halladay. Hamels was good, but he too was not a top five Cy Young candidate. There were probably odds before the season on will Philly win the Cy Young and it wasn't a cheap price I don't think. Looks like they won't even have someone in the top 5.
