Yes we've needed one since Parcells left the franchise. Next questions are who are some of the best candidates out there and would Jets ownership actually be on board with creating this position? Get rid of Neil Glat and the other teflon dopes upstairs.
What the Jets have now - and have had for a long time preceding Macc and Bowles - is a spaghetti bowl of accountability, with no one having any real knowledge of how to build a winner. This situation SCREAMS OUT for a Pres. of Football Ops (or whatever title you want to bestow) who is on total charge of all football decisions, including the hiring and firing of the GM and CS. He needs to establish a vision for this team and then build it. I don't know who would be available to hire into this role, but surely there's someone. The big hurdle is, would Woody go for it?
Without question, we need one. Would the Johnson family have a clue who to hire to fill that role? No. Would the Johnson family ever hire one? No.
I like beer, but only good beer. I like the President of Football Operations, but only a good President of Football Operations. Unfortunately it is very possible that the Johnsons would hire the Bud Light of Presidents of Football Operations, but it still of course needs to be tried.
I don't like too many chefs in the kitchen but we need to stop hiring noobs at every fukin turn because El Cheapo won't throw money at a SB Winning coach, GM or player. Every decision from player personnel up to the GM is a damn entry level or low salaried decision. It's ridiculous.
I am sold on Ron Wolf as he has a good track record. But not so sure about Eliot to be honest. But if he is who Ron wants to go with, I will be fine. The problem is the vision of Johnson family. Yesterday I was envious of the Eagles. 2-3 years ago they were at rock bottom with Chip Kelly. They had bad contracts in their hands. They ended up trading unwanted players, they hired a great coach, they traded up and grabbed an excellent QB. None of this is what we have seen from the Jets. Now Eagles are in the Superbowl and Jets are looking for the next franchise QB. The misery never ends with the Jets due to Johnsons.
Worse owner in sports. 1. Jimmy Haslam 2. James Dolan 3. Woody Johnson 4. Wilpon's Love how I root for two of the four teams. Woody has no vision or an idea how to run a household. How do you expect him to run a football team?
There is no way Woody Johnson is a worse owner than the Wilpons. Things are bad enough in reality I have no idea why Jets fans need to exaggerate how bad they are. Why is Woody worse than owners from.. Miami Buffalo Cincinnati Tennessee Indy Houston Oakland LA Washington Detroit Minny Chicago TB LA Arizona I’m sure I’ve left some out, all these teams have either had long playoff droughts, have never won a SB, have not had consistent success. Jets fans are insufferable.
I think we need one and it may be the direction the Jets opt to go for after this season, if Macc and Bowles can't figure it out.
So we want Ron Wolf who is near death and who recommended our current GM who everyone wants fired. Oh and we want his son to be GM after he was passed over for GM by GB. Only Jets fan. Yea I would like to see a Pres of Football Ops. If I was Woody I’d offer Peyton Manning a stake in ownership and the keys to the franchise.
