I still seeing us starting 4-1 with a shot at the playoffs this year. If our offense can hold onto the football and move the chains (which the starting offense did, even with Hack in at QB), we will be fine. Our defense is so much more talented than some people realize. This is not a tanking football team. It's a young, hungry team looking to prove people wrong.
I know some posters are going to give you shit for this post. I probably would have too but after the Titans game I have to pretty much agree. With the way the starting D stood tall in the one series on the field. I see at least 8-10 pro bowl starters on the D. Our young WRs, while most would not be able to make the practice squad on any team in the league will surely torch opposing Ds. They showed how dangerous they are after the catch , and it was amazing to see how quickly they cleaned up the issue with dropped passes. The TEs look unstoppable With our starting RBs all ready nursing injuries, our young RBs have shown the lack of ability to step in. McCown stayed healthy for 1 entire series and made the rest of the league look foolish for not signing him. I'm sure Mac's phone is blowing up with trade offers. The O line looked amazing , especially the second and third strings. Unfortunately, injuries never happen in the NFL so they will never get the chance to see the field. Where I have to disagree with you though is where you said having a shot to make the playoffs. That is a given, the only real question is who they will beat in the Superbowl and by how many points. If they stay hungry, this roster should absolutely dominate the league for the next couple of decades at the least.....
Sorry Preseason wins are just fools gold...playing with and against third second and fourth stringers Everyone comes down to reality over next couple of saturdays after the Jets get hit in the face by the Eagles and Giants. Hopes will be really be soaring if we beat the Lions tho Not trying to be a downer but the whole NFL knows preseason is a big revenue sharing scheme and professionally a joke with the real team starters sitting in lounge chairs watching the subs play lol
I am hopeful for this team and the coming season. So glad Football has returned to the daily discussion. I am also hopeful that no player on the Jets team takes a knee for the national anthem. I believe we all have the right to protest peacefully. Just don't do it at a venue where we pay to be entertained. GO JETS!!!
So in one sentence you say you are glad the talk has turned to football and then the rest of your post happened ??????? On the later are you suggesting people should protest in their living room so nobody notices ? I also think there are going to be more Kaps this year tbh.
Of course we won't know if Hack's starting last night was really Bowles' idea or if Mac insisted upon it, but we do know it was Bowles' idea to start the 2nd string C, LT & RT. In fact, it sounds to me as if Mac did somehow force Bowles to start Hack, so Bowles decided to respond by starting 3 of the 2nd string OL to undermine Mac and Hack. I'm starting to get the very real feeling that this is an Idzik/Rex situation. Bowles has to go after this season, and if Mac doesn't seriously upgrade the OL, get a QB,and either a #1 WR or edge rusher, he must go after the 2018 season.
And then what happens? Do we fire Bowles's replacement after one season? Or do we force the new GM to work with him? If I'm going to fire Bowles and keep Mac I want Mac's draft picks to impress me and Bowles to look like he's costing a talented team multiple games like Gus Bradley. Otherwise I'm firing both and hiring someone with experience to run the franchise.
