Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer Jets coach Todd Bowles backtracked on the severity of Bilal Powell's season-ending neck injury, which will require surgery. Bowles, who said yesterday it could possibly be career ending, said there was a "misunderstanding."Today, Bowles said Powell is "expected to make a full recovery for next year." It doesn't mean he'll be back with the Jets (he's a free agent) but that's great news. Bowles saidPowell's injury is similar to Quincy Enunwa's 2017 neck surgery, which kept him out of contact drills for about 9-10 months.
I think he's back on a 1 year deal. Coming off really bad surgery, the only team giving him a real look is the team that knows him. He's got very little tread on his wheels and he's a very dependable consistent back.
Why are you assuming he gets big money? He’ll probably get a one year deal a little over vet minimum, possibly with a lot of incentives.
Nothing to lose there and the vet presence is a good thing. Cannon on the other hand is a scary proposition this game. I liked the pick but the only flashes I've seen from him are when the sun is reflecting off the ball when it's flying out of his hands. If they use him this game I'll be pleasantly surprised if he doesn't cough it up at least once. This is gonna be a tough game to say the least. Tough to see a lot of these getting it together on the road under these circumstances
maybe he doens't depends what he wants. i woldn't mind bringing him back on a cheap 1-2 million dollar deal at all. he's been making almost 4 mil a year though and could probably get that somehwere not sure if his market goes down from there or if he's willing to play for less
Don't you mean that he's got very little wear on his wheels? Saying that he has "little tread" would mean that he's pretty much worn out and done.
Why only 10 touches? With his speed you try to get him in space. Someone like Tarik Cohen gets quite a few touches. You gotta see if he can break one on make big plays with his Wheelz.
Guys like Cohen, Sproles, and Woodhead, are so elusive that they're hard to hit. I think that has helped a lot with their durability. With Cannon, I see a straight line burner, who still needs to learn some savvy in this league. I tend to agree with the 10 carries, and trying to get him in space until he gets more experienced. He's not a guy you can run between the tackles like Sproles, at least not yet. He also has issues with ball security which is concerning. But definitely an interesting player overall, and we need some speed in this O. We'll see.
There ya go. Especially in this spot. Not the place for him to be fielding any kicks either unless Roberts is hurt. Give him a few chances and maybe he breaks a couple of plays. He needs to prove he can be trusted to secure the ball before he gets more.
Looks like Burris couldn't stay with Roberts, Robinson, Nickerson, and Jones. Hadn't looked good for him in a long while.
Sure they've gotten over it with the emergence of Lindsay haha but yea he was the guy. It was because of their displeasure that I was happy we signed him. Curious what he can bring, if anything, tmrw.
