6 game improvement in standings is obtainable. Factors: - If Sam plays in 2019 like he did in the final four games last season. (+3 games) - Defensive improvements both coaching and personnel wise. (+1 game) - Coaching on both sides of the ball and game management improvements. (+1 game) - Le'Veon Bell (+1 game)
I don't know about that, Barkley was terrific and still didn't make much of a difference for the Giants. But if Darnold goes from a bottom 5 QB to a top 10 QB, then yeah we'll kick some ass.
Yes, definitely! I'd like to see Leggett make a strong contribution, but at this point, I'm not certain that he can stay healthy. Particularly since Gase likes to run 2 TE offenses, we need another TE who can give the opposing D something to think about and who hopefully, is a good blocker.
I think Cleveland has a very good chance of being in there as well. IMO it all depends upon how good a CS they have. They certainly have the talent.
What do you mean by "cleaning house?" Are you talking just players, or the CS, or FO or all of the preceding? I can't see Gase and Williams going anywhere. I think we now have enough talent that some players would get jettisoned, but the core would remain intact. After the FA period Mac has had, I'd be surprised if he gets fired, though wouldn't be at all opposed to it unless we only won that many games due to injury to Sam, Bell or Mosley and another player or two. I wanted him gone this past January.
Let's not forget the draft either.......in theory the Jets can wind up with a blue chip EDGE talent, a new starting center, and maybe a # 2 CB.
I know he can play H-Back, but I don't know if that is part of Gase' offense or if he wants 2 inline TEs. Hopefully he can get creative, but with Leggett being doubtful to stay healthy or contribute much we still need at least 3 TEs, maybe even 4.
I'm sure another TE will be added - possibly later in the draft. I'm disappointed it wasn't Jesse James though.....
I think we have a better chance of winning division than getting a wild card spot. There are a lot of good teams that I expect to be in the playoff hunt. Colts, texans, jaguars, chiefs, chargers, patriots, browns, steelers, ravens,. I think we would have a better chance of knocking off the patriots with a little luck. I think it will take 11-12 games to win wild card spot, but 10-11 wins to win the division. I'm not saying we will, I'm just stating what I think the chances are for getting into playoffs. The Patriots would have to flutter a bit & we would have to pull a few rabbits out of the hat.
Yes, me too. Someone I like in the draft that seems likely to go in the 5th or 6th round is Foster Moreau of LSU. He's a great blocker and pretty good receiver.
The Giants? They're a hot mess. Sam was rated #3 qb in the league (in the last 3 games) The addition of Bell, who is an all around offensive threat, is going to be great for us. This could very well be the year we top the AFC East. Yeah...I said that.
Cleaning house in my mind is Mac being canned, and as a result Gase and Williams as well. If we finish with 6 wins that work make Mac 30-50 in his 5 season as GM, but I believe a lot of our struggles with drafting and talent acquisition had to do with piss-poor coaching rather than Mac struggling. We'll find out this year, but I think this team can and must at the very least win 8 games
I believe 2020 is the year when we might be able to win the division. If the right moves are made, we could have an above average OL, #1WR, 2 decent CB's, a pass rusher or two, a ready for prime time QB on his rookie contract, great RB, and complementary skill players by then.
I had thought of this myself but then wondered if his current injury issues would increase with the extra blocking duties, didn't we use him as some kind of crossover 2-3 seasons back to a reasonable amount of success, could have been coming out of a HB position, memory gets hazy after a season or so lol
