If Pennington isn't all the way back in 2006 the Jets can draft a QB next year.

Personally, given his injury history, I doubt he will be able to stay healthy and be a top QB in the NFL next season - We have invested so much money in him already there is only one option...SEE IF HE CAN STILL PLAY!!

Its amazing how I was getting flamed on here last week for saying we should keep Chad at ~4mil per, and now so many are backing up the move.

I still believe Chad Pennington can be a starting QB in this league. And I'll be sure to bump this thread come week six as a big FU to everyone saying he'll be done by then!

it is a risk worth taking. We draft Cutler. If Chad comes back and regains his "stuff" and becomes an elite QB again, we're set, and we trade away Cutler after a few years. If he fails or gets hurt again, we have our QB of the future. It is a win-win.

 

As I said earlier, I think this is a good decision by the team, but the venom being poured out to the "Pennington bashers" mystifies me. Why is it so tough to accept that some people don't think he'll come back, and wanted to cut ties now? Why is that being somehow disloyal? Pennington, like any professional athlete, is being paid to do the best job he can, and fans have every right to think that someone else could do a better job. If forced to make a prediction, I would predict that he'll never regain his 2002 form again, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be thrilled if he did.

 

I'm glad hes back with the Jets. Hope he can turn it around.

I love Penny just like most of us, but i love the JETS and with his bitch arm the best thing to do for the team is cut him. But like i said before, considering he was going to count 15 mil against the cap the Jets did the right thing by restructuring the deal and hoping we get something out of him

 

THIS SUCKS!!!! I hope everyone who trumpeted for this guy to return is happy. Did he do it with 2 good shoulders? Nope. Did he do it after his first surgery? HELL no!!! This is his 2nd (SECOND PEOPLE) shoulder surgury and this is our guy? We better pray to the ALL MIGHTY that this is a 1 and only 1 year thing or we will sit here time and again wondering why we can't win the big one. THIS SUCKS!! EXCLAMATION POINT.
