Which overtime do you like better, college or NFL? What would you like to see become the NFLs overtime. I want it to be based on the college system (each team gets a drive, and they keep going until one team wins after each cycle) but have it start on the 50 instead of the 25
Statistically speaking, in the NFL is about 50/50 in terms of who wins, despite the seeming advantage of the coin toss...Still, I agree with you that there is a value in having it like college does where you go back and forth til one team tops the other.
The coin flip works great, until you have two teams that can't stop each other and it ends up being 55-49 as a final score in OT.
I don't care about the score, it is about the intensity College OT brings, it is like a hockey shootout, for me it's great
neither. They should play a full 5 minute overtime and if there is a tie at the end of the 5 then that is how it ends. College OT becomes to out of control with 65-60 scores. You could only imagine what would happen with betting.
neither one. There are several good options, though. Check out this thread: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/ramblings.php?p=87&cat=1 I like the ideas of ties in the regular season, and some kind of thing as discussed in that article and thread for the playoffs. The NFL's system is terrible, and the college system isn't real football.
i love watching college OT, its mad exciting. The only thing i would change is that they start it at like the 50 instead of in the redzone.
Colleges... they could put it into the NFL and just not count OT TD's and FG's towards the statsheets. Although it's not the greatest football around it is extremely exciting and if you moved the starting possession line to the 35 it would work out well.
I agree, if they do this it will be better if they don't count TD and FG also they can make a TD count 2 or 3 points in OT and FG 1 point, that way you will not have a 90-85 scoring games
