The NFL needs a QB Developmental school. This article is a killer. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...4-of-the-last-16-afc-super-bowl-quarterbacks/

Three qbs. 14 of the last 16 Super Bowls on the AFC side. If you don't have a qb you don't have a shot. The NFL needs to find a better way to develop the most important position so it's not only the same 5 or 6 teams. Interesting too the Giants have a great qb and he is about to retire and they have a top two pick. We try to tank and somehow win enough to not get one of the qbs. We'll be in NFL pergatory forever.

The NFL has at least 129 QB developmental schools. Outside of the Division One Football Bowl Subdivision there are hundreds more. It is up to the individual teams to direct the on the job training of their hires, not the league. Investment companies don't turn newly minted MBA's loose on their portfolios without training, doctors don't walk out of school and into the surgical suite the same day and no lawyer stood before the Supreme Court in his cap and gown - why should the NFL be different?

And while Eli Manning has had his successes, I'd never call him a great quarterback.

Coaches need to be more open about using a player's talents. For decades it's been about plugging the player into the system even if the player didn't really fit, perhaps now it's time to do it the other way around. The Spread has taken over college, and the NFL is still pro based. Innovation needs to take place.

I think I am going to have to go with it's the organization in many cases that raises the QB right and then profits from it.

It's no accident that the Patriots and Steelers have dominated the AFC over the last 15 years. Both organizations have a clear plan to win and a culture that surrounds the plan that pulls players in to the mix while shedding malcontents before things have gotten out of hand.

With the Patriots it's the Patriot Way, which basically involves making sure that the players are focused on their jobs at all times and that they are fully invested in the team effort. Bill Belichik has let go of some very talented players when he thought they were not fully invested or when the Patriots investment in them was not going to pay off moving forward.

With the Steelers it's smashmouth football, which basically involves making players into guided missiles with instructions to put their helmet on the football whever they can. It's a culture that brooks no discontent in the locker room and moves soft players (Santonio Holmes) out as soon as they lose their edge. It'll be interesting to see if this culture can continue in the concussion protocol era. The injury to Shazier was a direct result of playing smashmouth football and that has to have caused some ripples in the culture also.

I agree the team and others should be doing this and certain teams do have winning cultures. That being said every team with the top 5 qbs can't be representing the NFL and expect fans to continue to watch. Maybe it's as simple as allowing the qbs to be allowed at the facility all year practicing etc. Maybe the agents take it on and create developmental camps. I don't know. The NFL needs to find a way to get more top qbs for competitive balance. The way the NFL is set up today we probably wouldn't see a Kurt Warner story.
