We only need one, but he better be a starter. As a GM you have to have faith in your draft picks to develop, you don't just replace your third round pick in Brian Winters after what I would call a mediocre season we are not making a one year push. Plus we already drafted for depth last year with our fifth and six round picks gotta have faith they will develop otherwise your like the Redskins constantly trying to fill your squad with Free Agents.
i was a fan of major wright when he cam out of u.f. i don't think he was too bad in chicago. is he worth a look? also remember aaron berry. he was primed to be cb2 before his knee injury last year. he should be back in time for camp, definite dark horse candidate as a starter this year o.t. my 6000th post
The CB markets slowly dwindling... Hopefully Idzik has something up his sleeve. There's still Tarell Brown, Browner, and Thurmond.
Updates Steve Smith visiting Baltimore Browner visiting Benedict Aronold in hell Walter Thurmond visiting 49ers Cro soon to sign with cardinals via twitter
Well PFF had him as the 85th best Safety out of 86. Beyond that ask any Bears fan and they'll let you know, he was AWFUL, he has the coverage instincts of Roy Williams and the run-stopping prowess of Deion Sanders.
Updated, things aren't as bad as things seem. Plenty of veteran DB's. Still a bunch of a good playmakers. Guard and pass rush are the only positions of need that are slim pickings.
One of the major needs @AdamSchefter: Broncos fee-agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is scheduled to fly to New York tonight to meet with the Jets, per team source. Miami signs Cortland Finnegan
What's our plan at tight end? I like what we've done at receiver and we're sure to sign another and probably even go there in the first round, but the tight end market completely disintegrated, or was never even there. I'm not comfortable with Cumberland as the #1 (too many drops and can't block), and Ebron doesn't figure to be around at pick 18. We don't have many options left. Also, even if we were to settle for Cumberland as the #1, we don't have a #2 either (Sudfeld), and in the modern NFL you can't survive with 1 decent tight end. (and think about what would happen in the event of an injury, yikes).
I may be the minority but I think TE is a bigger need and tougher to fill than WR. I think there are so many really good WRs in this draft, whomever we could take in the second or even the third will pretty much solidify the WR corp. If Ebron is not there, not sure the other two top TE prospects are in the same class. And while I'd like to believe that Sudfield is baby Gronk, I'm not holding my breath. And while I like Cumberland, he can disappear for long stretches. A top flight TE, I think, would be the MOST important addition for Geno's development, even more so than a cadre of WRs. _
