Belichick was asked when he thinks his programme was finally in place in New England and he said 2003. He said the 2001 team deserved to win for what they accomplished on the field but noone thinks that was the most talented team in the game that year. He said they just made the right plays at the right time. So in Belichick's own words it took him 3 years (2000-2002) to establish his programme.
