I am not defending him and only offered playing through a possible injury as a reason for sucking. Maybe he has simply lost the ability to be a really good player.
The money is the real issue here, with his defense and his performance against lefties he's still a net positive out there even as bad as he's been. The problem comes in when you're a team that's unwilling or unable to spend money and that guy makes up nearly 1/4th of your payroll.
And boy was I wrong about the Ike Davis/Lucas Duda call. Duda could be a 40 HR guy someday and his defense has been adequate. Loving d'Arnaud with his 12th homer yesterday. A 20 HR guy from behind the plate? _
deGrom not sharp but another quality start. Nieuwenhuis with a bomb into the upper deck. And d'Arnaud with another big hit, the game winner. _
Man the Mets are only 5.5 games out amazingly with 17 games, not impossible. Lets go win the World Series!
The Mets have now lost 45 of their last 47 games against Washington in New York. This is the Mets second greatest regular season sinning of all-time. (The worst, of course, was the collapse in 2007.) The losing in 1962? Not a big deal. That is almost endearing. 2-45 in their last 47 games vs Washington in New York. Pathetic. The pitcher should bat first tomorrow. Duda should bat 2nd or 8th. Tejada, if still on the team, should bat cleanup. Something drastic has to be done. The Mets have actually not gone 2-45 in their last 47 home games vs Washington but the awfulness is something like that.
Paying my last respects to the 2014 Met season tomorrow night . Maybe the line at Shake Shack will finally be short .
degrom first mets pitcher with 10 Ks in the first 4 innings since Oliver Perez, I believe Ollie has been a nice reliever in the AL
On Tuesday, the lead proved too big for the bullpen to blow I just wish DeGrom could've gotten the win and not Jabba the Colon
It's a shame that this team has fallen off the last week or so, they were in the mix albeit far back but at least on that 1st page of teams that were in the chase.
