After the year clean house, and hire someone proven to coach the team and run the organization. Everybody is going to be on board with tankapalooza, but as Cleveland and Jacksonville will attest to if you have the wrong people in place picking the wrong players you won't win. Look at the names! Gilbert Manziel Joekel Fowler Jr Shelton Blackmon Bortles Weeden Richardson Erving All first rounders in the past few years.... The Jets.... Sanchez Wilson Coples Milliner Pryor We need a guy who has a proven track record picking players and running an organization. Enough with first time HCs/GM combos. DONE
Leonard Williams, Darron Lee, Jamal Adams Figured it made sense to actually list the 1st round picks made by the guy you want to get rid of, unless of course you want to get rid of the current GM based upon the draft picks of prior GMs
Then be prepared to pay up. Cowher and Gruden would coach again. Make them an offer they can't refuse.
Mac deserves at least 1 coaching regime HE hires going forward I think we can all agree it's not likely Bowles will be around unless the team actually shows up to some damn games this year I felt like the tires were deflated by week 6. But Mac deserves a shot IMO
Yes. Mac deserves at least one coach. Overall neither of them have been great but I'd say Mac has been better at his job than Bowles at his.
No idea why you would list draft picks made by prior GMs and that our current GM had zilch to do with. Anyway I'll play along with your completely flawed thread. Who do you suggest?
If Woody is listening to advice from posters on this board, then my advice to him is as follows: SELL THE TEAM!!!!
Cowher and Gruden have been named every year since they retired from coaching and have said every year they have no interest in coaching again. They make more money broadcasting with no pressure and put in a tenth of the time .
What compensation would the Saints required in a trade for him and is Woody prepared to pay his current salary (close to $10 million per year). And then there is the fact that Payton has expressed interest in the West coast to be close to his family in California.
Tony, you are right that draft picks matter. But as Parcells once said, "the draft is a crap shoot". What I have noticed about good managers of sports teams is this, when they make a mistake they realize it and rid themselves of the mistake and move on. Bad managers will try to make a square peg fit in a round hole. Players get better and develop under good sports managers. They have a plan on how the team should be constructed and they execute it. By this year's end, it will be obvious if the Jets are going in the right direction. If not, then there needs to be a house cleaning of more than the players.
