Exactly! Working with Morton is clearly the primary reason Gruden would leave the booth to return to coaching, not the team or organization. Or we could trade Morton to Cleveland for their two first round picks so Cleveland could hire Gruden.
From the sounds of it we may be stuck with Morton for another year. Have a strong feeling we will see a decline in offensive production in 2018, barring a superstar WR being added and a franchise QB being inked.
LOL, am I the only one who likes Gruden on TV? I think he's pretty funny, I love that he hates the officials as much as I do, and I think he gives you some very insightful stuff on Xs and Os.
Morton needs to better call plays and get the calls in the huddle. Jets wasted a lot of TOs on the offense. More talent absolutely as well, but inner growth will be the key to his development
Guys I'm so glad we get to keep Morton, I can sleep easy at night knowing this information. Imagine what kind of sick twisted hell this franchise would have been in had we lost the great Morton.
For sure. There is A LOT of work to be done on the offensive side of the ball. For every Carolina and Kansas City, there was Tampa Bay, Denver and Cleveland. And a lot of crap in-between. 2018 will be telling in so many ways.
You guys crack me up! Like Gruden was an offensive genius or something. How quickly you forget that he could never pick between shit QBs in Tampa. Gruden's Tampa QBs: Jeff Garcia Jake Plummer Luke McCown Josh Johnson Brian Griese Chris Simms Bruce Gradkowski Brad Johnson Shawn King Rob Johnson Further, he won a Super Bowl with an 18th ranked scoring offense. Interestingly, 18th is the highest his scoring offense ever ranked in Tampa, and by 2006, they were 31st! Even more interesting: they were 15th under Dungy the year prior! I really don't care about the guy at all--I'm glad he's coaching somewhere so I don't have to hear his name come up for every coaching vacancy from JV to the NFL every single year--but holy hell at the revisionist history on this guy....
Morton was a rookie coordinator. Hope he gets better at play calling because I don't want to lose him and start over. He was hit or miss with me.
I agree. I think he is one of the most overrated coaches. He’s a lot like Rex. And 2002 with the Bucs was a lot like our 2009 with Ryan. It was someone else’s team, but his rah rah coaching style put them over the top. It’s just not sustainable. The guy is a .500 coach who just got a 100 million dollar contract.
I like his scheme & he seems to have a good football mind. The play calling has gotta get better & quicker to the huddle. Now which QB does he want come April? It's all about the QB
