M. Williams - Packers Ferguson - Jets Young - Titans Leinart - Saints Bush - Texans Also, has Cutler going to Oakland. Nothing new here really.
Thats a good pick but i still think Mel Kipers a straight up dumbass and not a draft expert. Didnt he have Aaron Rogers going number 1 overall last year?
The only reason the average man can come close to predicting the draft is because guys like Kiper make it possible.
Kiper can talk for 12 hours straight on draft days without looking at notes. Predicting the draft is not what it is all about it is about evaluating players and if they will be a good pro or not. BTW, Kiper is not a fan of Cutler and says he is not a top 5 talent.
On the heels of cutting Mawae, I'm starting to lean a little more towards building the line for the next 10 years, then adding the premier players through the draft in years to come, and free agency. Let's face it, this years draft just doesn't shake out for the Jets. 1st of all, the top two skill positions will be gone when the Jets pick, which leaves them getting either the 2nd best RB, or 3rd best QB. Not necessary what you want to be reaching for with the 4th overall. That's an expensive and valueable pick. I'd MUCH rather take the hands down best OL'men on the board than Jay Culter. And no ones even talking about Lendale White in the Top 10. Let's not forget, in 2004 the Jets had a stronger need at CB than LB but took Vilma at 12, being that a) he was going to be the BEST LB off the board, and b) it was more value for the pick being Chris Gamble would have been the next option at CB (and he fell to the end of the first round) 2ndly, this draft is starting to shake out to be very defensive heavy towards the middle skattered in with Recievers and O-linemen. The Jets just don't have a glarring need on defense. Yeah, we have some holes, but nothing that just jumps out at you as an "end all" postion to fill. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that what we do with the 4th overall is really going to be 100% based on what we get for Abe. :jets:
The average fan cannot predict the draft-- yeah, maybe a few obvious picks, but everything the average fan knows is based on someone elses opinion, such as Kiper. Unless you watch the combine- like I do.
I agree with a lot of what you said, but you have to consider the depth at the O Line in the draft. If we pass on QB or RB in the first, you are not going to get anyone close to first round talent. Calhoun, Addai, Croyle, Whitehurst-they don't excite me, and any of them would be a major reach with our second round pick. However, there will be first round value in the second round at the tackle position. I loved DBrick, until I considered that he would not fit on the Right side, and neither does Adrian Jones. Jones is so valuable to us because he is young, pretty good, and has probably the lowest salary of any starting LT in the league. We need to take advantage of that, and hope he continues to improve. Also, in case anyone wants to tell me that Jones is naturally a RT because he used to play there, i don't want to here it. You need to be a big time run blocker to play the right. Kareem Mackenzie was like 6-6 335- thats a right tackle.
