I know he isn't a popular guy around here but it is what it is at this point. He has Minkah to Jets at 6th. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/i...l-kiper-first-round-pick-rankings-draft-order An asterisk denotes a prospect who is an underclassmen, and I have 24 of them here, which means there are only eight seniors. The position split for the first round here is 15 on offense and 17 on defense. 1. Cleveland Browns - *Josh Allen QB Wyoming 2. New York Giants - *Josh Rosen QB UCLA 3. Indianapolis Colts - Bradley Chubb DE North Carolina St. 4. Cleveland Browns (Houston) - *Saquon Barkley RB Penn St. 5. Denver Broncos - *Sam Darnold QB USC 6. New York Jets - *Minkah Fitzpatrick CB Alabama Fitzpatrick is the top cornerback and safety in this draft. He could play either position. He was primarily a safety at Alabama, but he covered receivers in the slot and on the outside, and he consistently made plays. New York took safeties with its top two picks last year (Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye), so Fitzpatrick would be a corner for the Jets, who have an opening with Morris Claiborne a free agent this offseason. This is another spot to watch for one of the top quarterbacks. 7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - *Quenton Nelson G Notre Dame 8. Chicago Bears - *Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 9. San Francisco 49ers - *Denzel Ward CB Ohio St. 10. Oakland Raiders - *Roquan Smith ILB Georgia 11. Miami Dolphins - Mike McGlinchey T Notre Dame 12. Cincinnati Bengals - *Tremaine Edmunds LB Virginia Tech 13. Washington Redskins - Baker Mayfield QB Oklahoma 14. Green Bay Packers - Marcus Davenport DE UT San Antonio 15. Arizona Cardinals - *Josh Jackson CB Iowa 16. Baltimore Ravens - *Brian O'Neill T Pittsburgh 17. Los Angeles Chargers - *Da'Ron Payne DT Alabama 18. Seattle Seahawks - *Derwin James S Florida St. 19. Dallas Cowboys - *Vita Vea DT Washington 20. Detroit Lions - *Sam Hubbard DE Ohio St. 21. Buffalo Bills - *Mike Hughes CB Central Florida 22. Buffalo Bills (Kansas City) - Maurice Hurst DT Michigan 23. Los Angeles Rams - *Carlton Davis CB Auburn 24. Carolina Panthers - Billy Price C/G Ohio St. 25. Tennessee Titans - Harold Landry OLB Boston College 26. Atlanta Falcons - *Christian Kirk WR Texas A&M 27. New Orleans Saints - *Courtland Sutton WR SMU 28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Rashaan Evans ILB Alabama 29. Jacksonville Jaguars - *Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma 30. Philadelphia Eagles - *Kolton Miller T UCLA 31. Minnesota Vikings - *Connor Williams T Texas 32. New England Patriots - *Rasheem Green DE USC
The way which the board fell is probably the worst-case scenario for us. The only other picks here that would make sense are Baker and Nelson. I would hope that we would try to trade out of this position.
No way; this is a rich FA CB market and apparently this guy barely played CB on the outside in 2017. Would love for Cleveland to take Josh Allen If it falls that way, I'm down to take a chance on Baker Mayfield. F it!
Until someone signs Kirk Cousins, I'm having a hard time paying attention to any mock. He could go to Cleveland, he could go to Denver. Either of those moves greatly shakes up how the draft will play out. Hell, he could come here, which would free us up to take best player (although I'd rather have Oline).
Mel Kiper on the radio with Golic/Wingo this morning, Saquon Barkley is the best player in this draft
This mock draft would suggest that Cousins would go to the Jets? The other potential suitors draft a QB in his mock.
I'm on the opinion of everyone else, pick Baker at this spot, otherwise trade down and see what's up then.
If the first 4 went as Mel predicts in this mock, then I think we would have a shot at Darnold, for better or worse, because I still don't believe Denver will draft a QB.
If it plays out like this AND the Jets have signed a FA QB such as Cousins then I would think they would try to trade down, take either OT Williams or the best pass rusher and get an extra second or third rounder out of it....
I was going to say if it fell this way I could see a trade up to 4, shouldn't cost all that much and Cleveland should still be able to get Barkley while the Jets get Darnold
Hometown Boy Minkah at 6, I would love it but I don't think the Jets go that way. I think we go QB or pass rusher at 6.. if Mccag is not sold on the QBs there at 6 , trade down and pick up additional pick(s) Ridley at 8 ,, what does he see? Sutton also over rated. I don't think there is a first round WR in this draft...Maybe he bases his mock on teams being desperate to improve at WR. If we go to supplement the WR position, I would like Coutee in the third. I also like Washington and Kirk but I think they will be gone by third round. Not sold on Kipers valuations but he has Coutee moving up to 7th rated WR in draft. Hopefully we get some indication on Enunwa's health projection before the draft.
Is Peter King a moron too? As he has a source that told him the Browns would draft Allen 1st overall too?
I like your thought process but don't like Williams.. When ever I watched him last year he had problems with speed rush. Also seemed to get too many holding penalties.. I realize he was hurt maybe that and his rehab contributed but I like others on OL over Williams.
