He's a RA next year. The guy wants to play full-time and someone in the NFL will give him a shoot. They (Falcons) are going to have puddy on their face in 2007. What happen to Seattle is what's to come in 2007 regarding Schaub. He knows that he will always be 2nd to Vick in Atlanta for obvious reasons. Some team in the NFL will make Schaub an offer the Falcons won't match. I see why Tampa released McKay. He trys to play hard-ball and won't to go the cheap route. They picked up the Bucks new coach and won the SB the next year. Granted, they had give up a lot but they have trophy in their case.
He is a RFA next year, so they can effectively keeping him for 2 more years at a really cheap price. 2008 is a lifetime away in the NFL. With Vick getting hurt every ten minutes, Alt needs a capable backup more than most teams.
If he is a RA next year then if they don't sign him they will tender him with a 1st round offer. meaning anytime that wants to sign him will have to give up a 1st round pick. In the meantime anything could happen. Vick could get injured or fall out of favor and Shuab could takeover. Or things could stay as they are and they could get a 1st rounder for him next year or try to trade him for less. I don't see why the Falcons need to trade him this year.
