I don't root for injuries but will be curious to watch Petty after a week of real practice. Well if this is it for McCown I have to commend him on a heck of season out of the blue
Going in, I thought something like this would happen, but I thought it would have been earlier in the season.
Seems like Fate has stepped in for the Jets. Now the CS will be forced to see what talent there is on the roster in real games. Question will be, will he handcuff the kids with screens, dumps and handoffs? Will Morton suddenly channel his inner Chan Gailey and get pass happy getting one or both of the kids killed? Stay tuned...
I've never had high expectations about Petty - I just always thought they should find out one way or the other about him. If he looks bad and they lose out, maybe at 5-11 they can get a decent draft pick, or be able to give up a little less to move up in the draft if that's what they want to do. It's hard to imagine that they can beat the Saints, Chargers, or Patriots without the offense playing well, so it seems to me to be a no-lose situation.
Rather see Hack than Petty. Kirk Cousins and especially Andrew Luck are pipe dreams for Jet fans but damn do i hope we get lucky and land one of these two. #AlwaysNextYear.
At Saints next week, we very well may be down by 3 scores in first quarter. Will they let the kids air it out then, probably not. Will just run the ball to get the hell out of there as quick as possible.
The shame of it is McCown was obviously hurting and shouldn't have been in the game at the time he got hurt. I think I even put in the game thread that he looked like a hobbled wildebeest about to be eaten by the lions. I think he got hurt shortly thereafter.
Petty completed two passes today and the CS couldn't get him off the field fast enough..Trotted Geezer back out there and you know the rest.
