Some play without fingers. See Jason Pierre-Paul.

Not the same.... Thumbs are what separate us from Champanzees ;)

besides... the dudes, already out of shape from the foot injury.... may as well let him get his conditioning back and everything heal before it snowballs even further

No I'd be very happy with the pass break up and he'd get respect for playing through this 'injury'.

I see absolutely no reason why he can't play through this.

I remember Mawae playing with a cast on his hand and he had to tangle with 300+ lbs interior d-linemen!!!!!

What is wrong with these players today? What kind of a world are we living in when a broken thumb turns into a 3-4 weeks 'injury'?

    That's absurd!!!

I’m guessing it’s not even his decision. Dr tells coach who can and can’t play .

I gave you a huge plausible reason why a player shouldn't play through an injury but if you choose to ignore it then there is no debate to be had really.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course you're wrong but you are entitled to have it anyway. ;)

Senseless argument. It's not like Maye went up to Bowles and said, "Hey coach, sore thumb - c'ya in three or four weeks".
The medical staff makes the call. We don't even know the severity of the break but we're gonna argue that he should be playing regardless. Sheesh.

Thank you for confirming a.) you don't understand shit about risk-reward; b.) you're completely tone deaf; and c.) your entire worldview is defined by what you see on a TV screen on Sunday afternoons.

Last I checked, chimpanzees have thumbs, just saying. ;)

Breaking a thumb is much worse than a pinky. LOL at expecting people to play through broken bones like it's nothing. He could make it worse if he re-aggravates it or delay the healing process. Better safe than sorry.

I broke my pinky and ring finger a while back and I was forced to take 4 weeks of medical leave and I have a non contact, non physical desk job. It's not as simple as just ignoring pain. The thumb will become crooked, deformed and cause pain for life if it doesn't heal properly.

Sorry for the personal anecdote, but I once suffered a chip in my fingertip that required a cast up to my wrist. The tendon had partially detached, and if it pulled off before the bone healed, I was headed for a complicated surgery.

The human hand is not a box of Legos.

During the World Series telecast last night I saw a commercial that featured a Seahawks player I think he's a rookie that made it to the league with only one hand.

Here we have this pu$$y sitting out games because of a broken finger.

    Some players have heart.

    Others don't.

His hand is already gone. Can't do anymore damage. Why worsen an injury for a safety that needs to catch the ball? Stop being a dumbass.

At least you didn't call him fat though.

Sounds like Maye might play today, seems like a panic move. Hope he doesn’t worsen anything.

Why can’t we play a chimpanzee at safety? Stupid NFL rules.
