We don't really need complimentary offensive players like Coleman, Ingram, or Tate..this team needs homerun threats like Bell, Hunt, or a legit number 1 reciever...players like that will make Powell, Anderson, and Quincy that much better...look at Dallas with Cooper all of a sudden other guys are wide open.
AFAIK, 2020 is supposed to have a loaded group of RB's. While I'm not dead set against Bell, his past injuries and suspension worry me a bit. Also, Steelers OL players did not like how he held out for more money. That said, we badly need a game changing skill position player or two in the worst way so maybe Bell will have to do for us.
I think Bell ends up in Indy if they offer him equal money. In general, I think he goes to the highest bidder. It's obviously money is the most important factor for him. But if you had to choose between the current Jets and Colts for equal money I mean... unfortunately that's not a competition we win. Unless we have a serious overhaul and our new staff is attractive to free agents. If we end up signing a stopgap instead, that's fine with me. There's only a few guys worth locking up with a sexy dollar amount and multiple guaranteed years. Bell is one, and there is no other for a while. So if you lose out on Bell, ok, sign an Ingram or a Coleman and wait it out til you can draft your next guy. For the record, I think Ingram is a product of the Saints and wouldn't do well here at all.
I can't hate the guy for holding out as he was just looking to get paid. The lack of guaranteed contracts in the NFL makes me side with the players more than the greedy ass owners every day of the week. It's tthe biggest horsesh*t model in the most dangerous of all pro sports. Also injuries aren't a big concern for him as besides the MCL tear that ended his 2015 season he only had the minor groin issue that cost him most of the 2016 AFCCG loss to the Pats. They probably also overused him a little bit which if his touches are managed a bit better 22-25/game vs 27-28/game then injury shouldn't be an issue. We really do need a game breaker on O. I'm so tired of talking about it as the Jets haven't had a home run threat in forever. If they don't go the Bell route then they better get a real explosive RB or WR in the draft and in FA. Darnold needs real weapons. McGuire, Enunwa, Cannon, Herndon are all 2nd tier guys.
Folks. Chime in please. Shall we leave the free agent discussions on the main Jets board or move them to NFL forum until they are linked with Jets?
I'm all for moving on from Crowell, and maybe even Bilal. Go get Bell or Hunt (depending on his legal standing) and pair either with McGuire.
He's definitely not a first round pick IMO. I think mid to late 2nd, early 3rd looks to be the prime spot for David. It's possible he's available with our early 3rd round pick.
I think most Jet fans are done with much debate about this season and have moved into the FA draft part of the season outside of game days.
He is very explosive, he will find a role in the league for sure. Have to see how healthy he is at the combine, and also his pass catching skills. I don't think this RB class is all that great, but there might be a few RBs that will be able to contribute early and often on all 3 downs.
He has disappointed this season after being thrust into the main role, I was expecting to see him shine tbh, shame really.
