I really like this firing and it was needed to become a possible contender.

I'd say go after Marty Schottenheimer, Bill Cowher, and Spag.

I'd go after Bill first however.

Favre needs to be told "Thank you, no" this morning. That should be the next order of business, so we're not doing the Brett Favre Retirement Shuffle into February. After that, we clearly need an upgrade in talent, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, but most notably at quarterback. I don't think we have an NFL starting quarterback on the roster right now. Miami has young talent that will be even more seasoned next year, and New England will presumably have all of its injured gimps back. We're starting 2009 with 3rd place talent.

Not me. Normally a 9-7 season doesn't get a guy fired, but it was the WAY that they got there. Woody spent too much money for the team to go from 8-3 to 9-7 and home for the playoffs. You just can't allow that to happen.

Now all you assholes can stop sucking up to him and realize what he always was. Garbage. Tannenbaum is next. Wait and see. Cowher or Parcells would both want complete control.

Has it occurred to you that Woody seriously just doesn't like losing? I mean Who wants to pay millions to watch a team suck.

I think you're a little off base, bud. Obviously he cares abut the money, but what was he supposed to do prior to today?

    He played this right, imo.

And I also told you there were only two options. Fire him or extend him and only a fool would think he was getting extended. You don't make a lame duck your coach.

I dont think they should have fired him. BUT -- I give them credit for making the decision now.

The issue I have is that there are a lot worse coaches out there. Look at the facts. Jets were 4-12 last year. And -- 9 wins this year -- with NO QB the last month. I know that in "sports talk" land -- you cant blame one play, one call, one player -- but I CAN. Favre killed this team single handedly. He was awful. I know, coaching didnt help, defense didnt help but you brought in ONE GUY to carry you and he stunk. Remember that before he was brought in -- 9 wins would have been a miracle.

I recall back when they fired Carroll -- I said ok -- he probably didnt deserve it but ok and they hired Kotite. I sat at the wheel of my car in disbelief. (I was living in Philly so I knew he was a dolt -- but a nice guy apparently).

There are many many bad names they can go with Tice, Romeo, Billick, Fassell.
I would include M. Schottenheimer too -- but its not fair -- but dont bring him here anyway.
Reeves is too old -- but very underappreciated in my opinion.

After Cowher -- threre is no one who you really would want?
    Gruden?

This will most likely be his last head-coaching job. After losing to some bad teams and the whole spygate thing, he is done...

Totally agree. If you're going to bring in a new broom, sweep the room clean. There is plenty of talent on this team to get more than 9 wins. It's up to the new coach and Tannenbaum to evaluate and keep the winners.

Job #1 would certainly be NOT giving Coles a new, long-term contract. He either plays out this one and shuts up or we get rid of him.

I gained alot of respect for Woody after seeing his interview last night and he followed it up with swift action this morning. If anyone saw his interview last night after the game, he was the only person interviewed that seemed legitimately angry.

Good Bye Mangini you fat little bitch..now you can be a tester for big red next year and chew all the gum you want.. he had the personality of an actual douche bag..I couldn't be happier with Woody being this agressive..it showed how upset and rustrated he was..as long as all of us..I don't know who we get but it better be some singeltery type that is a old school charasmatic hard ass that knows how to motivate his players..lets go Jets..I still can't believe that loser blew our entire season like this.. lets start builiding this one again...a new hope.
