Leonard Williams fell to him. After today, every other pick cut. That is historically bad. Again, Loved the trade up this year but lets be honest, Williams, Adams and Darnold fell to him. Maye was a good pick. After that, he’s been dog shit
Can’t argue with you brother but I think Mac used Bradway and his people for this draft. So fuck Bradway.
We're doing things the right way. Mac is a football guy. Idzik wasn't, okay? For his sake & ours Darnold better be the goods or he's/we're up the creek.
That means bad drafting from 2011 till at least 2015 if not 16 or 17. Its absolutely infuriating. As badly as we need a proven head coach we need a gm w proven draft success just as badly. Enough of this.
Guys like that cost money lotsa lotsa money. Woody's only hired entry level gu ys since he bought the team in 2000. SAVE US, DARNOLD!!!!!!
Love it. All the good picks were lucky ones that fell to him. All the bad picks that also fell to him we blame him for. Every GM sucks under these rules.
but why trade for proven players when picks are so valuable ??? yes if used correctly sure ... wonder if anyone would let their 16 year olds drive a brand new Ferrari
Williams was a very good pick. You can't just say 'he fell to us'. Picking him, when that was by far our most stacked position, showed draft discipline on not reaching for need. Safe to say Smith, Mauldin and Petty were all terrible picks tho.
I guess we need 10 picks every draft so we could hit on one of them ... if we traded them away we would have no shot
I did say in another thread he deserves credit for actually drafting those guys bc the guys in the past passed on the sure fire picks that we all were screaming for
Theres no need to discredit Mac’s good picks to come to the conclussion that the drafting has been below average at best. Not one of the supposed “home runs” has become anything close to an impact player(could stilll change). At The rate of his draft success we might be competitive sometime around 2023 & still might not have a single play maker.
Here are some potentially better players than Mac selected that draft: -WR Tyler Lockett (3rd Round) -RB David Johnson (3rd Round) -WR/RB Ty Montgomery (3rd Round) -WR Jamison Crowder (4th Round) -RB Jay Ajayi (5th Round) Overall, looks like it was a weak draft besides the 1st Round and in that round the Jets picked Leonard Williams, so hard to complain too much.
Here's my rankings of Jets GMs hired since Woody purchased the team. From worst to best. Obviously still a work in progress with Mac still here & the drafting of Darnold. MacCagnan - so is he the homeless bum who lucks out by buying a winning Powerball ticket? Stay tuned. Idzik - I would've like to have seen how he woulda done with his own HC instead of getting stuck with Rex. Bradway - a distant second. Tannenbaum - he was doomed by three major mistakes Gholston, Sanchez, Holmes but man he brought in a lotta talent and the team won games with him.
Because a GM can predict his 2nd and 3rd round picks sustaining multiple injuries derailing Smith and Mauldin's careers, yup. Mac has been the best GM this team has had in a long time, gotta give it time, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Idzik better than Macc? Sorry, I totally disagree here. Idzik blew a 12 pick draft in 2014 with only Enunwa panning out. He had a chance to land a few impact players in the first 4 rounds and got none. And Bradway gave up 2 firsts to get Dewayne Robertson. Not to mention he traded a first to the Raiders for Doug Jolley. Oh, and best of all, he took a kicker in round 2. Ranking Tanny ahead of Macc has some merit as he nailed the top picks in the draft twice which formed the core of back to back AFCC game teams. My rankings as of now from best to worst would be: 1. Tanny 2. Macc 3. Bradway 4. Idzik Subject to change depending on how Macc's recent selections turn out.
