Haden informed Kiffin of his termination upon the team charter's arrival back in Los Angeles early Sunday morning following USC's 62-41 loss at Arizona State. Kiffin's Trojans have lost 7 of their past 11 games. USC is 3-2 this year and has lost both of its Pac-12 games. His overall record in 4 years at USC is 28-15. Haden will hold a press conference at USC on Sunday afternoon at a time and place to be announced.
Not shocked but what was even a bigger kick to the gut for USC was that Marquise Lee may have suffered a bad injury
I remember saying 3 years ago on here that not only was USC no longer the dominant football team on the West Coast but that Kiffin was going to run them into the ground. And I succinctly remember some clueless ones on this board saying that wasn't the case. Well who's right now?? The proud Trojan program looks like the 90's version again. Kiffin's always been a spoiled brat who lived off daddy's rep. Another case of WAY too much, too soon. The fucker still made a few million bucks in the process. I actually think this helped Kiffin's career - Davis was so obviously crazy that it was a badge of honor for Kiffin that Davis canned him (especially since he was replaced by another clown in Tom Cable). It obscured just how lousy a coach and human being Kiffin is.
Word is he didn't even make it out of the parking lot at LAX. Now teh question becomes is USC willing to throw the money Tejas is reportedly going to throw at Saban for him as well? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see SC go after Jeff Fisher.
The problem is Chip Kelly has a show clause because of the Oregon probation and won't be able to coach in college again until December of 2014.
and I probably overlooked the possibility that USC, coming off of such debilitating sanctions, would want nothing to do with a coach who has been in trouble in the past.
