Jets were prepared top the Bears offer and get Mack by any means necessary. Raiders closed the bidding once they found an NFC team willing to give up 2 firsts. Fuck Oakland.
Both. The Jets have a glaring need at the game’s 2nd most important position and an elite player at it suddenly became available. That’s such a rare occurrence of that many variables lining up. Maccagnan was smart to be willing to top any offer that came in. Fuck the Raiders for not even listening. I hope they go 0-16.
From one point of view this is hardly a surprise - the Raiders weren't going to trade him to the Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos, or Niners for almost any offer, which is as it should be (just as was true in the corresponding situation with the Jets and Bridgewater, only even more so for a player with the impact of Mack). It's a little surprising that they cared about other AFC teams like the Jets, but hardly shocking - if they missed out on the playoffs or lost a playoff game to the Jets because of this it would look very bad for them, and remember, all they care about right now is setting things up for Vegas (which is about nothing but perception). Once they got a comparable offer from an NFC team it was a no-brainer to make the deal (given that they wanted to trade him rather than sign him, which I've already said I don't agree with). I've hated the Raiders for 50 years, but this isn't a reason why.

Khalil Mack has a sack and a forced fumble in 3 straight games. The last player to do that...was Khalil Mack in 2016. He has elevated that entire defense.
Do you realize that Mack is mathematically on pace to have 16 straight games with a sack and a forced fumble? It’s simple math.

Another strip sack yesterday. A strip sack in every game so far. Boy it sure would be nice to have that. At least we have draft picks though, right? Maybe MacCagnan can draft someone who gets a strip sack weekly ?
