Trubiski locks on his 1st read and if it's not open he bails. And while Darnold has the ability to extend plays himself he keep his focus down field (i.e. he has a better head on his shoulders). Oh but this thread is about a QB vs. a LB. . Sorry longsuffering88, good oil-vs-water thread, my bad. . : ) . .
You can pay one player 10% of the cap. It makes no difference if it is a qb or edge as long as you draft right. Now was the time to land a player like Mack while the rest of the core is on rookie deals. Passing on stars when you don’t have any because of money is a good way to stay right around wild card contender at best .
While I agree that QB > LB and the Jets should not have traded for Mack, he had a huge impact on that game and almost won it for them. Rodgers is just otherworldly and made a crazy comeback. Without Mack in that game, it's not even close. Mack stats: 1 FF, 1 FR, 1 sack, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 PD. What didn't Mack do?? Rodgers is one of the greatest QBs of all time and it showed. Most QBs wouldn't have been able to overcome that.
If Mack was on the packers with Rodgers that game is over by halftime . That’s what we were going to have here in 2 years. That’s what the bears are hoping to have by making the trade.
Can you elaborate please, I'm not following, but am genuinely interested in the point you are establishing.
Favre // White Kelly // Smith Simms // LT Aikman // Haley Newton // Peppers Bradshaw // Greene Man it's a tough list to make, I'm sure I missed a bunch.
You like stat sheets That’s cool I prefer Super Bowls Mack has zero Giving away picks for a stat sheet is dumb
So Von Miller had nothing to do with Denver's SB a few years back? Ray Lewis had nothing to do with the Ravens carrying Trent Dilfer to a title? I also remember Malcom Smith being a big factor in the seahawks SB victory and he's not even elite. Yeah, Mack has zero because he's only been in the league 4 years and has been on a mostly garbage teams. Nobody who wanted Mack on the Jets was arguing that pass rush was more important than QB, they were saying that it is ALSO a very important position that the Jets needed badly as the pass rush has been non existent the last several years.
So you’re saying that elite QB >>> elite pass rusher? Yes, cool, I agree. But we have our QB. QB + pass rusher > just QB Neither of the first round picks traded for Mack would’ve been used on a QB. I don’t understand the argument.
The argument essentially boils down to “we have Sam Darnold so who needs other good players?” lol what
Yup / Yup / Yup I worded my last post poorly. As you can see, in the history of the NFL, this list is short. Very difficult to be a part of... ...but I believe Darnold // Bosa has the potential to make it!
Considering how much money we have to spend we could front load the contract and make his cap hit very manageable when it comes time to extend Darnold. If Mack is even still playing at a high level.
I was going to post something similar to this last night. I would've loved to get Mack (though the price was pretty steep as it already was) so the Raiders would've definitely wanted a much bigger offer to consider sending him here. Couldn't agree more with you here
I’m saying that tying up all that money and loss of draft picks for a team that is still rebuilding is not worth it Mack had a better QB with Carr (at the moment) a better O line and comparable D. And did nothing You need a compete team to win. Mack does not complete the team
