  1. Herm,Mangini,Rex & Bowles would all cringe hearing that philosphy.Thats been a residual affect of all these conservative defensive head coaches; We lost the real roots of this team that existed up until Parcells arrival.Win or lose for better or worse the Jets PLAYED like Jets. And not anything to do w the cheesy Rex mantra that he deliberately stole from the Ravens.

Its starting to appear that Lucifer has refunded Joe's soul to him and lifted the curse of '69.

    Knock on wood.

It's not about tanking and two lost second round picks and perfectly scripted drafts etc. etc.. It's about that; a paradigm shift with Providence. It was always gonna be about that.

It's somehow tied to Trump and The Woodster's man love for him and Woody goin' across the pond the fuck outta here. The shit shifted :D

Maybe Lucifer traded Joe's soul for Woody's....The price for lifting the curse evidently. :D

During a 1971 preseason game against Detroit, after throwing an interception, Jets QB Joe Namath severely damaged his knee while attempting to tackle Lions' LB Mike Lucci. This guy was a superstar at the time and was trying to tackle a LB after throwing a pick in a meaningless exhibition game. Probably the greatest testament to Namath's toughness and competitive nature.

Wish he could suit up now. With the way pass coverages have been watered down, Namath would have a field day. Plus the innovations in offenses (west coast, wildcat, spread). It would be fun to see.

I remember that. Sucked all the oxygen out of the team. But you're are right Namath didn't view it like a preseason game.

Joe Namath turns 76 tomorrow! 76! That reminds me of the Bicentennial! 1776! The last time the Jets won the Super Bowl! Old man grumpus is carrying on about a VLT! My hearing's going! I think he means a BLT but what do I look like! The kitchen in this house closes at 5 p.m.! Make it yourself!

His coolness, seeing him nonchalantly wearing a fur coat on the sidelines. Great personality. what pissed me off was the mea culpa they forced him to do, after that Monday night game interview with Suzy Kolber. Even worst was an interview he did months later with that fing weasel Scott Van Pelt. The weasel brought up the incident and Joe tried to down play by making a joke about it, the turd wasn't having it and got snooty with him. I hate espn.

Today players are doing worse things and taking different drugs. Namath got over his addiction to alcohol but Media is always hard at work to work things up that were wrong with you and downplay your accomplishments. But that's life hahaha.

Namath threw so deep his INT's should have added to his QBR. It changed field position more than a Ray Guy punt.

As did Babe Ruth..... Begs the question: Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? Well, I've know a few booze & pussy guys who couldn't complete an out pattern or launch one into the short porch in left, so there's your answer.

Never saw this image before. Nice one.

One of the aspects of SBIII that has always been visually appealing to me is that ominous, darkening sky as the game went along. Just adds another element to the David vs. Goliath aspect of it all. It's as if doomsday was drawing a curtain on the old guard, stuck-up, pretentious NFL. The Green and White Prince who's turning 75 today led that charge. Any of us (OK, most) who felt that way about him, and are Jets fans because of him now pray we have the same kind of Prince developing with Sam Darnold. We hope the next generation of fans can feel the same way about Sam that we do about Joe Willie.
