Is he better than Long? I assume he can stay healthy as he has started 42 games in the last 4 years.

Is 42 games a lot? Basically misses an average of ~5 games per season.

He played in 53 of 64 possible games, starting 42. Should have clarified.

He's solid when healthy, the problem is just the health. Low risk and good depth signing at the very least.

It figures. Mike Mac will do anything rather than DRAFT on the OL. He especially likes other team's unwanted retreads.

Normally I'd agree, but a rookie QB + rookie C is a recipe for disaster.

It's not so much he won't draft OL, but given the fact that he just gave away 3 second round picks, he won't be able to draft the most coveted o-linemen. That's not to say he won't draft any at all, but his draft history suggests that he does not view o-line as a position a team drafts high. The only time that almost happened was when the jets tried to trade up for Tunsil

I wonder if this moves Long to Guard? Its nice to have some depth at C but I don't think this will prevent Macc from drafting a C like Ragnow or Bozeman.

Not sure what makes you think this negates drafting any o lineman. Still need depth/starting tackle upgrades. By this logic we won’t draft a qb,rb,te,cb,lb,wr either since we signed some free agents at those positions. Looks like it’s d line and safeties

Nonsense. He needs to provide depth before the draft. Good move. That negates nothing. He will draft BPA as if an OL is there and worthy of it he will.

I think Long will start and Swanson will back him up. Both have injury concerns. Long can move to guard in case of injury and Swanson can move to C. Its good for depth purposes on the interior.

This is almost comical,,,,,I admit I don't know a lot about Travis Swanson other than his mom used to make decent TV dinners

  16. I’m pleased.Would rather sign a center or 2 than draft one.Im not high on any of the centers in this class & strongly believe centers in a zone scheme are largely feast or famine.Wesley Johnson was famine.

All for drafting OL but Guards & OTs only please

    I can't argue against O line depth

Good veteran signing for a team with almost zero OL depth and two starters on the OL (Long, Winters) who can't stay on the field. Highly approve.

Sounds good. Mac is being consistent with his FA signings; young players with experience and possibly upside. I like these moves. I would still like to see an interior OL drafted, but depth is obviously important

Murrell I agree with adding depth on our line and at this point there is no one left to sign but this guy is also in a similar category to Winters and Long as he has missed quite a few games
