The end of Bilal? McGurie the odd-man out? Rather of grabbed an RB in the 3rd in a RB-heavy draft....
Worth a shot honestly. He's only 24, he produced when healthy, and it's not as if we're going to take a RB early in the draft, if at all.
I am glad Ian specified it is a new contract, because otherwise everyone would think he was signed to an old contract.
I don't really get this at all? we have powell under contract who ha soutplayed his contract year in and year out we drafted maguire who looked great as a 5th round rookie last year we signed crowell who is young and has been a starter in Cleveland for 3 years we signed langford who loked good his first few years before injuries Now we signed rawls who looked good for a bit then fell off are we traying to drain the NFL of RBs? You only keep 3 maximum, none of them return kicks or punts so why have 5 RBs? clearly 2 of these guys will not be on the opening roster and Rbs have very little trade value
It was surprising to me that they brought him in, but I see it differently now. He's been pretty lousy the last two seasons so I don't think he's replacing Powell. Swapping Rawls for Powell would be ridiculous. My guess is it's a depth flier behind Powell, Crowell and McGuire especially in case of injury. I'll be surprised if he makes the team short of injury
This can only point to something is going to happen to Powell. Not sure why because he's on a fairly reasonable contract and is very productive when given the chance. His age is the only thing going against him yet he defies that every year.
So now the Jets have five RBs and sixteen WRs on the roster. Throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.
He's a fart. Crowell is better even when Rawls is healthy. If they want to move on from Powell, ok I get it, but I would have rather done it via the draft. I doubt he'll be on the team once the season starts.
I'm terrible at reading sarcasm, so I'm just going to hope and assume you mean the opposite. This should officially kill the 1% of the idiots here who are members of the Barkley cult.
Based on Rawls' play the past couple seasons, I doubt this anything more than a near minimum signing for depth/competition and does not indicate the end of anybody else's tenure
Not many short yardage grinders like the crow in this draft. I don’t think you can find a better hammer in this years Draft other than Barkley. The crow is a good football player. Now that we got Rawls, instead of using a late pick on an RB we can now address other needs in the draft.
Agree, especially since with the fewer draft picks it made sense to address the RB need in FA essence there were options. Now we can address the OL for example in the 3rd. FA OL his an expensive proposition. I'd rather use the draft on the more expensive option.
Now they can draft more DBs in 2018--we only drafted 4 of them in last years draft, along with zero offensive lineman.
