    From the daily news
Since we were under the cap before this and you can add in Mawae's 1.1 mill that means we are at least 12.7 mill under the cap and a new cba could make that in the 22.7 -25 range. Great job by the FO with teh numbers this offseason.

I'm pretty sure the source that said they were under the cap was considering Kendall's deal and Mawae's upcoming cut already but I am not sure.

I'd be surprised to find out we're 12.7M under the cap. I have it at around 9.

and if we ditch abe..wow we could have quite a bit of money

we could actually sign 2-3 pro-bowl type players AND other good players to fill holes:grin:..

    8-8 season here we come..(mabe 9-7? )

Even if we're 9 now, with the new CBA, it'll be 19. This is great. BIG props to Tanny any Mangini so far.

Sign Bentley! Sign Arrington (run a 3-4) and sign trevor pryce!(excellent 3-4 lineman) OR if you want to run a 4-3, sign Simeon Rice. An just wondering, A) you thing we should get a guard considering kendall extended and brandon moore isn't that bad and B)are there any good tackles on the market?

Lange said that Kendall's new contract was 4 years/$11.3M/$3.9M bonus. He should be around $2.3M against the cap ($1.3M base in '06).

    This isn't Madden. 19M doesn't translate to 119M.

They didn't release as a money issue, they released him because he was really old. I wouldn't be too upset if they resign mawae, but i just dont think it will happen. They'll get a young center either in free agency (Bentley?:breakdance: ) or they'll get a young center int he draft

Its posts like yours which force alot of good posters, myself included, to skip the Jets forum during the offseason.

Ever hear of the salary cap?

Sorry but nonsense on top of nonsense leads to a completely unrealistic Jets forum.

We see this every year when the new blood comes in, fresh off a season of Madden for PS2.

  17. Great job by the FO. None of us ever thought we'd be anywhere near our current cap space. We should be able to sign a decent FA for each side of the ball.

Agreed, we've come so far in the span of a few weeks. The new FO has given us enough wiggle room to address some of our pressing needs in Free Agency. We should be able to properly address all our needs before going into the season. . .and I'm looking forward to the jets playing competitve football again.

if we are indeed 19mill under the cap (with a new CBA), we should really target either Bentley on Offense or Will Witherspoon on Defense.

I'd say Bentley because that's much more of a need. But both are young, proven players that would help this team.

    cheers

    Oh, forgot....

Kemoeatu from the Ravens at DT, another young, good player.

one of those three gives us more flexibility going into the draft.

    cheers
