Fowler isn't worth risking more than a 5th round pick, which Jax won't accept.

Would rather try trading a 5th for Ray.

Our only backup OLB right now is Copeland, who is more of ST player. I think a trade is coming......or at least a waiver claim.
Another potential option is Ealy for situational pass rushing. Should be cheap and wouldn't cost a pick.

I liked Ealy last year and was surprised we let him walk, given the dearth of talent.

I think Ealy's limitations are that he doesn't fit in base D, and he too often disappears in games.
He's also capable of a big performance now and then tho.

Worth picking up off scrap heap tho to see if he has big performances left.

Mac better hurry up the season is almost upon us. Go get Fowler! He'll be our poor man's Khalil Mack. Then pick up Martavis Bryant. Championship!

That's fair too. Without the pass rushes our D will still be strong enough on the back end to be decent and finish somewhere between say 13th and 18th in the league. We will be pulling our hair out on this site when opposing QB's on 3rd and 13 have forever to throw and convert far too often...but our secondary will make some plays too,

Next year we have the money and the picks to load up on impact pass rushers.

I hope there still trying to trade for Fowler. No pass rusher we pick up as a free agent will be no where near what Fowler can do for this defense.

Doesn't make him any worse than the likes of Khalil Mack...

Probably far-fetched but imagine the Jets find a way to get Bell for 3-4 years on a front loaded contract next offseason.......sign the best OL out there and add a pass rusher. Then they go and draft a top LT in the first round and another pass rusher in the third..........one can dream.

The way Mac seems to construct his running games is with under the under the radar signing and committee approach. Not that Bell wouldn't be exciting but he's already pretty worn as a back. Mac probably wouldn't want to invest that much in that position for one guy, even on a front loaded deal. I think we're rolling with Crowell, Powell (or someone like CJ Anderson or Jay Ajayi) and McGuire or Cannon next year. Depending who the team likes better as the #3 breakaway threat.

Yeah you could be right.....Ajayi might not be a bad addition - he'll take Powell's place.

Well they're gonna be adding somebody. Crowell and McGuire are decent but Cannon isn't going to be anything more than a KR and a third down option. He won't last if he's used more than that.....another skill player whether it be at RB or WR would do wonders for Darnold......

I'm not saying he isnt an improvement over those guys..... I just doubt he comes at a comparable cost.
The guy has talent no doubt, but not sure the production / investment would be there on this team.

No more or less than anybody else. He was fine on a Super Bowl winning team

Actually a maturation process out of Robby Anderson would be even more beneficial for this offense.....

Of course it doesn't and why should it? So what if Bell has a lot of miles on his tires, a PED suspension and a cruciate surgical proceedure under his belt; everyone knows that RBs are just as valuable as QBs and QB killers and the league salaries bear that out:

The top 25 NFL salaries include Demarcus Lawrence (DE) and Ziggy Ansah (DE) and Odell Beckham (WR) and Von Miller (DE), Aaron Donald (DL) and Khalil Mack (OLB).

    The rest are all QBs.

    RBs? .....none.

    good post though
